not sure if the terminology is right but has anyone put a windlas (electric anchor motor) on there boat?

on a SRV 240??????

Yup - you got the right terminology. Just add another "s" at the end.

Overall, not a particularly hard thing to do - depending on your foredeck layout, of course. The toughest thing is usually running the heavy-gauge wire up to the bow. The instructions that come with the windlass are usually quite good (assuming you buy a good brand). You'll need some decent wood-working type skills and electrical/wiring skills. Not something you'll accomplish in only 2 or 3 hours, though.

oh no, i will be getting someone else to do it....and i am sure that would secure the anchor real good

Most will have an arm that will sort-of "auto-lock". But this SHOULD NOT be relied on to secure the anchor. You'll still want a secondary system. From your other post, it sounds like you already have the appropriate piece for that.

no i think i only had the arm piece you are talking about held in with a skinny pin....i need more...lol....

The "arm" piece is part of the windlass. Sort of like how your trailer's winch works with that small lever that ratchets/clicks.

I was thinking you already had something like this: http://www.windline.com/index.php?act=viewdetails&mod=104

That would be the secondary securing system for the windlass. There are other versions of this, too. But, you get the idea.
