Has anyone used the woven straps in place of the braided steel cables on your trailer winch? I just replaced my cable and it promptly pinched itself in the reel so badly that it might break. The woven straps seem as though they would be easier to use.

Would the woven strap be strong enough for a 230BR? I am also wondering how you attach the strap to the reel (the cable used a simple clamp and two screws).

Thanks!

Thanks!

The strap works just fine on our 240SD so as long as you get one that will handle your boats weight it should not be a problem.

I took the cable off ours and replaced with a strap last year. I dont like the cables because they tend to coil up after pulling them out and they develop little cable splinters. I drilled a hole through the sides of the winch drum, as close to the drum as I could then inserted a bolt through the drum sides and the strap and put a nut on the back side.
