My 20 year old winch cable is looking pretty ugly and I always forget to wear gloves when handling it. As a result I get little cuts in my hand from the frayed strands. As much as I enjoy this, I think it's time to replace it. I could easily replace it with new cable, but I would like to go to a strap. Do they make a strap that can handle pulling up a 5,500 lb boat? I realize it doesn't lift the entire weight of the boat, but I'd like the strap to last for a while and would easily pay for the additional capacity! Could I just throw and tow strap on there?
I'm looking for some advice on this one!
