Wilmington NC for July 4th

Anyone interested in a trip to Wilmington for the 4th next week?

We're heading from Wrrightsville Beach this weekend down to Snows Cut, then back up the river where we'll be staying at Sawmill Marina for the week.

On the afternoon of Wednesday the 4th we'll be cruising up the scenic Cape Fear River a few miles before returning and anchoring for the fireworks.

After the fireworks we'll be returning to Sawmill Marina for the rest of the week and pulling back around to Wrightsville Beach on Saturday.

We are going to Southport wednesday morning and staying until friday. Then back to Hampstead. Where is Sawmill Marina?, never heard of it

Sawmill Point Marina is just south of the Isabella Holmes Bridge. Its the one that's been foreclosed on by the bank and has the big vacant lot in front of it beside PPD. While the surrounding property is in poor shape, the marina itself is in really good shape. It's always been pleasant and quiet (we've stayed there a number of times in the past years).

We debated on heading to Southport this year, but the kids have to depart ealy Thursday morning and we just couldn't make it back in time. Maybe we'll join you guys next year.

I know where you are talking about. Are you doing Bald Head marine max in August?

Nope, won't make it this year. It's just a day before we have to head to Western Carolina University to move my son in for college. No boating that week
