I have a 1999 190 cuddy and I just replaced the Ratheon fishfinder that came with it, with a Garmin gps/sounder. The old fish finder had a transom transducerthat only worked at slow speeds. I donot know if this is due to the transducer itself or if it’s due to its mountinglocation/adjustment. It does appear tobe mounted in the correct location.

For the Garmin I was thinking of using the shoot-thru-hull transducer mounted in the bilge.

Does anyone know of any reason why a shoot through would notwork in this location on my Searay?

It can be very tough (lot's of trial and error) to get it to work on your boat since you have a double hull. You'd be best served to use either a full thru-hull or another transom mount.

Get a full thru-hull and eliminate adjusting a transom mount. MM
