Just curious if anybody has towing experience with wide beam boats on narrow trailers?
I have to move a boat that has a beam of 9’ 8”. The chine measures 9’ and my trailer is 8’ wide on the outside edge of the fenders. The boat will stick out about 6” on either side of the trailer fenders.
I am on a tight schedule and I don’t have the time to build a trailer, the extra cash after paying for the boat to buy a bigger trailer or access to anything wider/bigger.
I am just curious if putting it on a narrower trailer will have any ill effects or unstable characteristics while towing it because it is narrower? It seems like the wider it is the more stable it would be. The max width here is 8' 6" so it's not like it's that much wider.
If it matters, it’s a triple axle, weight rated at 10,500, brakes on all three axles and I will do the oversize permits and the original brochure says the boat weighs 6k lbs. dry.
Any thoughts?
