Hi all,

I'm currently looking to upgrade my electronics this winter, and was looking at what I need to convert form SC to NMEA. That said, it would seem there are two options:

  • VV 403 - has small screen but also a built in VV link - $1000
  • VV link multi - has no screen - $1100
Am I crazy here or is it basically that you are only choosing wheter or not you want a 4 inch display integrated into it. Because if thats the case, why wouldnt I just always get the 403 and have an extra screen whenever I might want?

I believe you might be, because you can actually use this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/202674852896?epid=1059591174&hash=item2f305cd420:g:yVwAAOSwkp5c1JMw

When setup correctly this will bring your engine data over to N2K.

Thanks for the tip SKybolt, didn't know that existed (aside from knowing that they also have a mercury connect for Ray and Garmin).

The vv link is needed for Simrad or Vesselview mfds and sc guages. The gateway just converts data to n2k. No vv app on your mfd. You lose some diagnostics without the link. 403 works fine if are good with small display. Don't think it will drive sc tachs & speedo though

That works great for just getting data to N2K, I installed one for a friend a few years ago and he love's it. You might need the extra harness and block for both engines depending on what you have available.
