For all the beat downs that are handed out on this board about searching the forum can someone explain why it hardly works?

I know there are many posts on the KEC DVD players yet putting those simple terms into a search reveals nothing.

And, btw, I did use the search function to see if I could find an answer. You can imagine what I came up with . . .

I feel your frustration. As mentioned using site:clubsearay.com in your google search is the best way to search this site.

As a side note, I would like to reach through and b-slap the folks who throw out "use the search function" and nothing else. They of all people should know the search function is broke and should try to post something constructive.

Bill I have an Emerson brand 12V unit on my boat and have not had any issues.

I can't remember where yours is mounted, but any unit will work. Just like with the TVs, fine one with an external power brick that converts it to 12V and hard wire it. Screw the KEC player!

I should probably start a new thread but does anyone know if any brands out there will use the same power plug as the KEC. Sea Ray off course once again leaves NO slack in its wiring and I can barely reach the power plug. Trying to wire a new on will be a major PITA.

Here is where my KEC is.

Sometimes (but not always) using the Advance Search feature will work a lot better. If you know things like the users who are "experts" that will likely have posted meaningful information (such as Frank Webster) you can also use that in your search to minimize the number of posts that you have to look at. It may also be better sometimes to search only in the post title rather than the entire posting. That results in fewer postings to look at as well.

Not sure of a brand...but just for reference my new Insignia LED LCD 19" TV uses the same size plug in as the Artec DTV Convertor I just got rid of...
