Hopefully, this is the final installment of the camper canvas adventure for our 380. It began here http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26158&highlight=canvas+costly and continued http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26216&highlight=canvas+costly. If anyone wants better pictures, or contact information for the canvas guy, feel free to ask. Recall that the design was intended to complement the lines of the boat while doing away with the rear supports (for aesthetics, docking and general convenience). The term that seems to be used for this is a "cantilevered" canvas top. Total cost of the job was $4500 which probably included a significant off-season discount.

I wish my photography did this justice, but here is the finished product

Big props (pardon the pun) to contributors to this project including Hampton, Webster, Irie, Chapman and Rowe, and all of the information I gathered from the various threads on canvas. I chose to leave the old snaps and mounts in place (Only Mate didn't want holes in the boat and I didn't want to deal with gelcoat repairs and heck, who knows, may one day want to put the old top up if something happens to this). Still waiting on the mesh panels, for mosquito avoidance...and we don't like the loops so are adding some integrated snaps to hold the at least the door panel to the superstructure. Downsides...can't leave my grille stuck in the rod holder on the gunwale...entrance is a little awkward...we plan on doing big water and I think I will add additional support in heavier seas. This also limits the sun that is going to get to the aft lounge area, which for us was a goal but for one of my dock mates was a deal killer on his boat.
