Who will admidt to a BUI ???

Who drives home?:wow:

She can handle the drive home. Its only 3 miles from the boat launch. I will give her credit. She is one of few women in my day that can actually drive. I think that was #2 on my list of why I married her.

Interesting topic. . . .insurance.

I do not think I am required to have insurance in NJ, but I carry a stupid piece of paper with me anyway. I have nothing that looks like a wallet sized card.

*liability only* insurance on my 22' sailboat and my PWC's has been quoted for about $275 per year (EACH) from several companies. Can't remember the liability component of the SeaRay, as I have "replacement value" in that policy.

Fortunately, I found a clause in my not-quite-homeowners-insurance which states that I get liability coverage for certain watercraft. It covers my blowboat, but not the PWC's or the SeaRay.

On insurance - mine is covered on my home insurance & is very reasonable

I have never drove intoxicated - for a long long time(but now days that can be a couple drinks) It's not worth it - for lots of reasons

a designated driver is always a good idea or call someone to come get you

boat insurance is not mandatory in NJ. but you'd be insane to use a boat without it.

My home port of Hammond, IN requires proof of insurance for all vessels moored there on permit, including dinghy's and PWC.
I will have few beers during the day and while anchored at the beach, but between the CG, Conservation Police and Sheriff's Dept, it just isn't worth it anymore to try and take a chance.
We have all three watching the beaches and entrances of the harbor.
I usually am stopped an average of once a month by one or the other.

Beer is absolutely mandatory on my boat...whether it is just a couple of Guiness or Twisted Teas while motoring around, or many of the above if rafted up for the day.

I never drive the boat smashed. When rafted up, Ill drink up until a while before we have to go...but it is never a lot. Im not a big drinker regardless. This is when I will also be driving along the shore at planing speed.

I will smoke a little herb while rafted up as well.

The river police continually make the rounds, and as long as you arent some drunken idiots, they are simply passing by. Both police boats patrol, and they WILL pull over people that are not driving properly. On an 11 mile river to have 2 police boats continually patrolling is fine with me.

meh...im small potatoes. The occasional toke never hurt anyone.

No, they arent hemp, but really, everything SHOULD be made of it. If it wasnt for the archaic idea that pot is any worse than alcohol (actually, alcohol is much worse but legal:huh:) we would be using hemp for a lot of things.

I'm a joker
I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker
I get my lovin' on the run:thumbsup:

On the insurance, I know when I got my liscence, a blow boat is coverad, and also any boat under 18' with a motor less than 25hp. Otherwise, you have to get other insurance on it. Not only that, but do you really think your homeowners insurance would cover your boat for what you think it is worth? I would just get insurance on it. My boat only costs me around 250/yr with full coverage, and that is with the 1 million dollars of coverage the storage requires.

Just found out from a DNR officer Sun that insurance is not required. Interesting but I will still have it regardless of the law.

We certainly have plenty of Corona and wine....and thats part of boating for us...I am a 2 or 3 beer guy. I actually prefer coffee while on the boat...
Lake George, although small by many boaters here has a very active police boat patrol. They love to hang out...lights off near the bar area in the village, waiting for the crowd to head home for the night. They normally snag 10 or 15 a season.
