Who was on the water today

Went down to the marina this weekend, check this out the owner has been building fires in these barrels to keep the snow and ice off the roofs.
Seems to work.

Where in the Midwest? Is it somewhere where it snows - and stays - and roofs should be able to hold it?

We have been hit with two bad storms this year. One last Nov. Took down a lot of docks at Lake of The Ozarks. Then in Jan. we got 4†of ice then a lot of snow. The walkways where under water at one point.

Underside of the marina roof is going to be a little dark come spring time. Maybe even have a nice hickory smell. :smt043

Yesterday the Water, or should I say Ice, was on us....Barnegat Bay has been frozen over for about week now. Yesterday's Nor'easter pushed the ice on to the shores.....about 8 feet high....

We went by the dock yesterday and hung around on the boat. Water temperature was 54 degrees and the air temp was about 38 and very windy! Just went by to check on the old girl!

Nolin, you're killing me. I have a similar setup in my boat with the camper canvas. I also have heat from my fresh water cooling which makes winter cruising a blast. Unfortunately I opted for winterizing this winter....but am considering getting her ready to go again soon.

When I started this last week when I was on vacation I thought you would be one on the water since you had been talking about heat on the boat. See, now you are missing out so don't blame me.

Thats ok Todd, not this weekend but the next it is supposed to be in the 70's here so I may not need the enclosure except early in the morning. That sounds real good.  :smt038

Man, now I know how you Northerners feel. I took my boat in for a complete bottom job, Cutlass bearings, and engine alignments. Now, we've had a couple of cold days and Sea Ray approved some warranty fiberglass work, so I won't get it back until next week.

At least now I'm motivated to get the 250 out and running and ready for re-sale. So, I'm taking the 250 home tonight. I had to replace a tire today - one leaked out this week.

We had an unseasonably warm and dry day yesterday, so went out for the afternoon. It was sunny, not too windy, and nearly 70 degrees outside. Went about 20 minutes downstream to a popular island dock, where we encountered 20 other boats. (Compared to last weekend, when there was 1 boat braving the rain, wind and 50 degree high.) It was a great afternoon--kids got to run around up in the park, and I got to enjoy a Jimmy Buffet concert replay on Sirius in the sunshine. It's starting to feel like boating season again!

Just got back from 3 days at Lake Havasu. Little wind the first two days. Nice and warm. Sat in the channel and watched the people and had a few. Great time. The small mouth bass a hitting in 10 to 25 feet lots of fun.

Just to the dock...

The wife and I checked on her today (new to us last month). Re-rigged the dock lines, had a nice picnic lunch down below and fantasized about the warm weather. With a high of 38 today, we did not stay too long, but enjoyed every moment. Thankfully we are only 15 minutes from the dock. Good to see folks out and about.

Did I mention I can't wait until summer?
