When I arrived at my marina yesterday, I noticed that my bow line looked like it had some slack in it. While adjusting it, I discovered that the bow of my boat was lightly resting on the bottom. The stern drive was not touching. I looked out towards the Bay, and noticed that the tide was about 3 foot below "normal" low tide. There is a sandbar near the island that is always submerged. I could see birds standing on it. I could see an extra 20 feet of the launch ramp. If I wanted to, I could have walked from my marina to the restaurant next door on the Bay side of the sea wall.

I couldn't find anything on the web about it. Did the Corps of Engineers pull the plug on the Bay? Maybe some fish down in Virginia need the water more than we do up here?

Anyone know?

Michael

The tides have been extremely low all week.

I attributed most of it to the strong winds coming out of the north we have been having. My Marina is directly behind our house so I have been checking the boat daily. I am hoping to get out this weekend, without having to use training wheels on the bottom of the boat….

Ask Al Gore or go watch "An Incontinent Truth" Global warming is evaporating the oceans...you heard it first here at CSR....hell if it is on the Internet...it has to be true

Have a good weekend, hopefully you will be able to get your boat out.

Hehe... I am at Bill's Boats in Miller's Island. Half way through "the cut".

And 2 weeks before that it was the melting polar ice caps that gave us that extra couple of feet of water that we had back then.
