All that talk about sunshine and spring make-ready a few weeks back has come back to bite us. Though I also saw two boats already in the water at Grand Isle in Grand Haven last week. I blame them entirely for the two inches of snow we're supposed to get overnight tonight.

If I recall correctly we had a bit of an early April snow storm last year as well. That was the kickoff to a miserable summer '17 out on the big lake. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come (again)!

A little perspective....northern lower Michigan is expecting 14” of snow

And it'll be a wicked heavy, wet snow.

Should be an interesting couple of days.

Keep the snow up there......My bottom paint came in today from Wholesale Marine and I thought about throwing it in the trash:mad:(not like I can use it).....LOL.... It's like summer is never going to get here.

A nice 3" just north of Grand Rapids this morning...and still snowing. More on the way tonight and tomorrow. Those spring breakers down in Florida really got their money's worth this year...

We brought our newly purchased 390 back from Wisconsin to W. MI last year on April 5. Two days later we had 2+ inches of snow and freezing temps. Seems like the new normal here in the Great Lakes. Early April snow, one week of 50's and then on to the warmer weather. Hang tight all, it's coming!

Our 'lake' will be a little bumpy this weekend so I think I'll stay on the dock.

TODAY
Northeast gales to 40 knots. Heavy freezing spray through early afternoon. Waves building to 12 to 17 feet occasionally to 21 feet, then subsiding to 11 to 15 feet occasionally to 19 feet.

TONIGHT
East gales to 40 knots. A chance of snow. Freezing spray after midnight. Waves building to 12 to 17 feet occasionally to 21 feet, then subsiding to 11 to 15 feet occasionally to 19 feet.

SUNDAY
Northeast gales to 40 knots. Freezing spray. Snow. Waves building to 15 to 20 feet occasionally to 25 feet.

Come on, can't you handle the occasional 25 ft wave with heavy winds and ice build up? Somebody has to put the wreck in recreational!

Indianapolis forecast, 1/2” snow Sunday April 15th.

Unbelievable! The forecast for the next two weeks , nothing over 65 degrees.

Pretty soon it will be time to store our boats.

This is some weather. Driving home last nite in a white out, came to a dead stop a few times and got out with a flashlight to look for the sides of the road. People still driving cars on the lakes, some have 30" of ice yet. It's 18F right now, wind howling and a possible 10" more snow today.

Boating? What's that?

Wind, sleet and freezing rain here today. Along with an inch or so of snow/sleet on the ground (again).

This weather is enough to drive a man to drinking.
