I find that the swimplatform is getting yellowish compared to the rest of fiberglass.
Tried deck cleaner, bleach mix with mild soap, boat wash, Vim,etc, etc and nothing seem to work. It's washed with the Surehold white brush every chance I get but still trying to find the perfect cleaner to get it olmost the original white.
Any suggestions
Thanks

Maybe try some Bleche White (Available at your local auto parts store). I am getting ready to make some repairs and possibly spray a new coat of gelcoat over the entire platform after patching is complete. Too many different davit systems have been on this platform...

Not sure if this will help but try some Ironout. Mix about a 1/2 cup into a pimp sprayer. Spray on then rinse. You won't need to waste much time wondering if it is working as the results are almost instant and require no scrubbing. It will either have 100% success or ZERO but it's cheap and easy so if give it a try. Available at Lowes or Home Depot.

WE use the works toilet bowel cleaner, get the liquid not gel. Same stuff as hull cleaner. 1/10th the price

Soft scrub with bleach and a stiff boat brush work great.
Should use Woodys wax after because, it most likely strips any wax.

:)
Mark.

You could also try Bar Keepers Friend. That does a good job with a lot of different stains/discolorations. It also has a bleaching agent. Worked well getting some rust stains off for me.

anything with oxalic acid in it will work to bleach out the FG...iron out, bar keepers friend, toilet bowl cleaner, rustaid etc......i personally like to use rustaid since it is a liquid and is inexpensive from our local Home Depot......i use a chemical sprayer and just spray the rustaid on the swim platform or deck and let it sit for several mins......usually i don't need to do anything but if there are some tough stains i may have to use a stiff bristle brush to work the stain out of the FG....after a few minutes rinse with water and the FG will be as white as it is able to be....this works great to remove the scum from the bottom of the boat if/when needed....

Iron out is the way to go, it works wonders on my swim platform as well as the rust stains from the a/c and other drains. ACE Hardware carries it around here

+1 on working well on rust stains. Got rust stains over a weekend at a marina that had a well with lots of iron in the water.

Dont use it with bare hands... dont ask how I know. :smt013

Another vote for IronOut which I also get in powder form from Ace Hardware. I use it to take the brown stain off of the entire hull and it is cheap. Someone else mentioned oxalic acid which is the active ingredient in On & Off. It is also available in powder form from Ace and much cheaper than the marine product. I prefer IronOut because I get the same results without the risks of working with stronger acids.

I won't ask....I already know :) but wow how nice it works

Hands down the best one I've used. Just keep it away from galvanized trailers. (not that the OP is trailering).

Most of the suggestions here are good but the OP has yellowing not staining so the answer may be different from what some have posted. That said, I'm with Shaun and Bar Keepers Friend, it has a mild abrasive plus the chemical formulation to help whiten. Just saw a guy using BKF on his swimplatform and it was looking good. I use it on so much, just deep cleaned the Zodiac with it. The issue for the OP is; has the whole mass yellowed or will deep cleaning reveal something close to the original color.

Good luck,

MM

Thanks for all the replies. I will try the Ironout or Bar Keepers friend . First one I get my hands on will be the first to try. It's all the platform is kind of yellowish compared to the swim ladder cover.
Thanks again

BKF will be at Walmart or hardware stores usually near the Comet type scouring products. Ironout will be with the bath cleaning products like Lime Away.

We had some kind of iron fall-out at our marina recently. I don't know if it was from fireworks or nearby construction, but my boat was a mess, probably because I was away for 2 weeks and not there to rinse it, like I always do. I had yellow stains all over the horizontal surfaces, especially in the non-skid where the water droplets dried with the trapped particles. I did a good cleaning with boat soap and nothing. It looked terrible. I tried "Wood Bleach" from ACE Hardware, which is powdered oxalic acid. I mixed the entire small can in 4 gallons of water and gave her an acid wash. It worked so well, that not only did it instantly remove the yellow stains from the fall-out, but it took off gel coat oxidation, black streaks, and whitened up my caulk lines. The boat has never been so white. Amazing. I'm going to use this stuff at least once a season.
