So when and for how long did sea ray have white merc. out drives.

I believe it was only 1988. (Mine is a white Alpha drive)

At first I thought it was painted but the inside mount is white also

My salesman told me it was two years. A big promo thing. White Alpha 1 drives on "big block option"; Oyster white and Sea Ray decals... Big disaster as they would not hold the torque of the 454 330 hp. Mercruiser developed a HD upper gear set with a different ratio to get them to live short term... then just built the Bravo 1 for the real fix.

Little confusion: I remember allot of white outboards then. I was referring to the IO's, specifically the Alpha 1's.

I am not sure how long, but my 1988 Weekender with an Alpha 1 outdrive was white also

Unusual for this forum I know but they are Mercury and they are white....and er ....orange.
