whinninng from starbord trans at 1000 rpm

When I idle out the channel at 1000 - 1100 rpm I get a whine or a singing sound coming from the Starboad V Drive trans on my 2007 32 dancer with 350s Its done it since i owned it but is it normal. If you slow down it quits and if you speed up it quits. When we did a sea trial the broker drove and I don't think we idled at that speed so it did not do it on sea trial it was early in the year and we went out of the channel fairly fast. Its just one of those thing that kinda bothers ya.

Our '98 370da did this one one side at nearly the same speed. It never caused a problem, and as far as I know the current owner of that boat has never had to do any work on the v-drives, either.

As for the cause, I'm not a mechanic...don't know. I'm sure someone who knows more will chime in soon.

I had the same problem when we bought our 320 new. Complained, marinemax seatrialed with me and claims it is normal.

Thanks for the info it makes me feel better anytime I hear something a little out of the ordinary I always wonder what it can be. Im a stickler for everything on my boat to be as close to perfect as it can.

Whenever I hear a whine on the boat, I tell the dog to be quiet.
