OK guys, need some guidance. We're currently playing on on a nearby lake on a BR 175. Great little Bowrider, easy to tow and no issues. Boating being what it is...bigger is better...we're looking at a 94 200 Select with only 190 hours and very clean and nice. Also looking at a 90 220 DA. I know my Honda Pilot can tow the 200 just fine but seriously doubt if I should be towing the 220 with it. Does anyone know the weight of each boat? What issues does each have? What should I ask more about from the sellers.
Thanks. I'm a newbie here but an off and on boater for 30 some years. Also looking at a 99 215 EC. I love looking at this stuff.

Hello, and welcome to this site. I was in your shoes a few years back. Our first Sea Ray was a 1995 175. Luckily we started out with a Suburban, therefore when thinking about an upgrade we did not have to worry about our tow vehicle.

When you say your Pilot can tow a 200 you are right. But can it stop it? I believe you are very close to your tow limit (Pilot 4500 lbs.) Empty a 200 comes in at 3100 lbs now add in full gas tank and trailer and you are around 4500 lbs.

As to the weight of any Sea Ray go to their site, http://www.searay.com/, and look up any boat and their specifications.

Personally and speaking from experience I would get an engine and a hull survey, especially if you do not want to ruin your summer or blow a few more thousand dollars on parts. I bought from a dealer and 10 days after the warranty ran out I had to buy a new lower unit. The survey would have caught this.
