Which Inflatable Dinghy and Where?

probably korean PVC stuff. there a lot of brands out there but i think the same company produces all of them. they're all over ebay, with all sorts of incarnations. i am not familiar with the quality but the koreans are making pretty decent products these days.

Hurley dinghy davits on 340 SD

Has anyone used the Hurley davits with an inflatable on the new style sundancers whose swim platforms are 24" above the line?
I have a 04' 340 SD with a 270 merc air deck & a 9.9 merc/2 stroke and don't want to find out the hard way that the s/platform is too high up to get it the dink on.
On an earler post, Mike makes a similar combination work with a 320 that may have the same height issue.

Thanks,

Steve

Am i the only one with a 9 hp on there dink???

My buddy just bought a 4 stroke 9.9 ... We havent a clue how were going to get her on and off the dink... Bad very bad...

I installed the hurley davits on a 420DA. I have a 9'8 / 5.3 /84lb rib with a 6 hp tohatsu (55 lb). The boat comes up on the davits effortlessly without the engine. I can pull it up easily by myself. Re-boarding the dingy with the engine attached is a bit more work. I attach a line to the outside rear handle and run it under the dingy. This provides more leverage and helps to lift the rib onto the davit. The most difficult part of the install is determining the best tie down points and fitting the davit to the bottom of the rib. All in all i am pleased with the davit. It is an affordable solution.

my paultry 3.5hp nissan doesnt get me around too fast, but it weighs less than 40lbs. everything in life is a tradeoff.

Rob,

How is your combo? Is the 9HP 2-stroke? Is it a lot lighter? What's the scoop? I'm considering a 9'6" or less with a 8HP 4-stroke by Yamaha. As far as mounting it, I think I'm just going to drag it around 90% of the time - the rest of the time, I'll just let some air out and roll it up onto the swim platform, I think.

My brother has a 10' air deck with an 8 hp engine on it on Hurley davits on his 2003 320.

I have a 10' hard bottom with a 9.9 on it on Hurley davits on my 44DB.

The Hurley set up is nice, but it is tough when the platform is higher. I love the idea from WFYB about running a line from the outside tube under the dinghy. I could see how that could help.
