I would like to know which has the largest overall size head the 260da or the 280da

thanks, Ken

The head in the 280 DA is a bit taller. But ergonimically I think the 260DA head is a bit better because of the placement of the Toilet. So its a trade off but they are both pretty cramped.

In the 280 you can stand up but your feet dangle when you sit. in the 260 you can't stand up but your feet touch the ground when you sit.

Easier to take a #1 in the 280DA

Easier to take a #2 in the 260DA. Um, easier to wipe your bottom in the 260DA.

Hmm, it's true. The 260 head is better for #2, not so good for a standing #1. My 300's head was OK for #2, OK for #1. My current 38 is no good for anything :smt017 Of the three boats I've owned, the 260 head has been the best for taking care of any "business." Ironic.

I'm left handed, easy to wipe for me in the 280. my feet still dangle though. Being able to stand up and take a shower was the seller for me.

Now I was on a cruiser a few weeks ago and they somehow got the bathroom right. You can stand and sit and wipe and shower, not that I did any of those on his boat, just noticed that I could if I wanted to.

The head on my 26 Cruisers was actually a little bigger and taller than the present one on my 30 Sundancer.

As typical in all boats, this was one compromise, or trade off.
Everything about boats is a compromise.

Consider the entire package, and not just one aspect.

Let me tell you, this is one mighty important aspect! It's probably the single biggest complaint I've got about my 38 and, silly as it sounds, about 50% why I'm looking at a different boat. If you can't get into the head, CLOSE THE DOOR, and take care of business then you've got a problem, especially with guests on board.

What's the size problem on a 38DA anyway? My curiousity is killing me because it sure looks bigger in pictures and certainly is much taller than a 260DA.

Ah, yes... the brochure pictures. What they don't show is that in order to sit on the head and close the door, your legs must be shut tight. the door is angled in at about 45 degrees relative to the bowl. On a 40, however, the door is parallel to the bowl. There's room to "maneuver." Back to the 260, I could get in there and sit with the door closed and "expand" to the volume of the space and be quite comfortable. I even had a couple of boating magazines and the West Marine catalog in there
