I need to know what all is needed to convert my 2003 220 Sundeck clarion stereo system so it can play ipods, and who sells the equipment. I called crutchfield and they recommended that FM adapter crap. Any ideas
Thanks in advance

if your stereo has AUX input and you only need to play music from ipod you just need cradle connected to AUX input or you could use headphone adapter.
if you want to directly control your ipod from stereo -you will need compatible head unit + ipod interface unit and compatible ipod cradle
some newest heads may not need ipod interface (already build in)

I have found that the iPod controller on most head units really stink...especially Jensen. The iPod user interface is much more intuitive, quicker and more flexible. Therefore the better option is to have a head unit with an auxiliary IN 1/8 inch stereo connector. This allows you to control your iPod from the iPod itself.

I think you're best deal will be from Amazon.com.

Here's a link to the latest models from Clarion:

Here's the CMD6 on Amazon:

The CMD6 through Amazon is currently only $238.00 vs. $499.99 MSRP on Clarion's site.

This is what I am replacing my Clarion M5475 with for the same reason.

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020M475/Clarion-M475.html?search=m475&tp=1721

It has the auxiliary input on the front as well as the connection for the Ipod control cable (must purchase separately) on the back. If you search around on the internet you can find it cheaper than Crutchfield. I ordered mine from www.jr.com for 139.99 plus 6.95 shipping but have not installed it yet. I believe some others on this board have installed it, so they may be able to chime in on performance.

Not sure about the aux connection as I won't have the boat until Saturday
