It was a 1986 270DA. Her name was "Eli-Beck" and we loved her. It was a great experience for the whole family and we didn't miss a single weekend the entire 1991 season.

As we watch the season come to an end :)smt089) we were wondering whatever happened to that boat. So I started the search :smt024 Here's what I have tried so far...
  • Sent an email to Sea Ray Customer Service. Got a very nice response but they have no record of the history or current owner.
  • Tried searching this site for ideas on searching but could not find anything to help:huh: (my search skills are not the best.)
  • Tried Googling for "free" HIN searches but all the sites I found were free until you "registered" your email address and then they wanted money to give me information :smt013 I don't like to pay for bait and switch.
  • I have the name of the person to whom I sold the boat and did some online searching there as well. I found one hit with a phone number that might be the right person but no answers the phone :smt009
So I am hoping there is someone who knows of a free (or at least not too expensive) way to search for a boat using the hull identification number (HIN) :smt100

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I do not know about your state, but if you have the HIN and if your state boat registration is through DMV, go there and for a nominal fee, you can use the FOI to find out who owns the boat or if it is still registered.

On an '86 270 there probably isn't any debt, but if the current owner has a loan on the boat you will probably find it is federally documented. I don't have the link on this computer; maybe someone else does, but the list of Fed documented vessels is available on line so its an easy search to check there.

You can search by vessel name or by Documentation number, but not by HIN.
