Gotta love weekdays off. Lake was nice a flat and didn't have to worry about some @#$$$%$ blowing by me throwing a wake and spilling my beverage. It was time to come in and I've been practicing docking in my new slip. It was a bit breezy today as well as yesterday. I didn't do so good yesterday and wouldn't you know...I had an audience then. Of course today when the marina was a ghost town, I docked as if I'd been doing it all my life. Absolutely perfect!! Why couldn't the dock be loaded with folks so I could earn some style points?

I'm sure there's lots of docking fiasco's out there.

One of the first times I backed into my slip I had a couple of people standing on the dock shouting instructions. As I was half way in the started reaching for the boat while continuing the shouting.

Sunday.....Not a sole in sight, which of course makes life so much easier. My rub rail likes it when I dont use it.

Such is life. You are obviously getting the hang of it. Plenty of folks will continue to see your abilities with time. And, they'll always be there to laugh when you have a bad landing.

When we back into the beach to drop stern anchors between boats, while fighting the wind, while letting the bow anchor out and setting it periodically and not allowing it to spin the boat around, people who've been drinking for a while love to shout instructions. I usually take my hands off of the controls, spin around to face them, and hold my hand up to my ear as if to say "Do what?"

After a few weekends they get the idea and stop barking instructions. It's a lot easier without the further distraction.
