Looking to go someplace warm in feb.

We prefer adult only remote beaches non resort type off the beaten path locations. Ocean and beach a must.

let’s hear about your favorite spots. We where thinking of doing a bare boat in the BVI however we spend all summer waiting on ourselfs so maybe that’s not the best to do but it is a bucket list.

Thoughts .

We had a place on West Maui for years and went there often in February. Its kind of off season and pretty quiet. Plenty of fun stuff to do if your into being active but great place to do absolutely nuttin just as well. We sold on the up tick and started exploring Cabo, not nearly as enjoyable as Maui, just cheaper.
Carpe Diem

A big fan of the Mazunte/San Agustinillo/Zipolite beaches in Mexico (fly to Huatulco or Puerto Escondido) as it's devoid of American/Canadian tourists; there are a lot of adult-only boutique hotels. Weather has been very reliable.

I imagine my experience is a more positive one since I speak Spanish fluently; it's not PV/Cabo/Cancún where any old yankee can order a margarita in his/her native English. :)

Not sure if Little Palm Island in the Keys is open yet. Last I heard was it was opening in early in 2020.

Was damaged heavily by the last hurricane.

Small, 15-20 bungalows. No cell phones, kids, or pets. Service is over the top.

We have been there several times via boat or sea plane. The do have an on shore welcome center that you can park a car and ride a shuttle boat out to the island.

ST John USVI is my favorite so far! Beautiful homes, views, and beaches.

We've tried:
Turks and Caicos... nice beach front house, food and drink too expensive, not much downtown
ST Thomas USVI... too crowded, stayed there once, but mostly just pass through to get to ST John
Punta Cana... All inclusive is the way to go... not much outside of the compound
Playa del Carmen... All inclusive here also... too dangerous now

This February we're going to Saint Martin (Sint Maarten) and give that a try.

Been there a few times - I wouldn't give them a high rating for beaches - but definitely an adults type resort.

Aklumal, south of Cancun. Nice half moon bay with very good snorkeling/diving 2 yards from the beach, but inside the reef. Condos for rent right there, huge supermarket across the highway, nice restaurants in walking distance. Very quiet. Not at all like Cancun. Resorts and waterparks are close by, as is Tulum (Mayan complex).

I'd also ad Bitter End YC if they're done with the rebuild.

I agree if the standard are the long beaches with a crowd. There are only a handful of people there, so their small beach - probably 100 yards long (if that) never feels crowded. Sand is not the pure white like in Clearwater.

But if you are floating on a paddle board out in the water, you can wave at the attendant and they will wade out to where you are to carry a drink to you in the water.

One trip there, was celebrating a birthday of a friends wife. She mentioned in the bar about wanting to eat dinner on the beach. After some clarification about where on the beach she wanted to have dinner, they setup a table in 6-12 inches of water. We sat barefooted with our feet in the water for dinner.

They are definitely service oriented!

If your looking for something different and a bucket list destination (at least it was for me) give Fiji a try. My wife and I have been there quite a few times over the last few years. Get off the Viti Levu (largest island) and travel to one of the smaller islands. Very remote and secluded. Often 20-30 Bures. Some with no tv and very limited WiFi. The flight from Los Angeles is 10ish hours. let me know if you have any questions. Great food and diving everywhere we’ve gone in Fiji!

This is their summer season (cyclone season). Just an FYI.

We are heading back in a few weeks!!!!

We always do a couple boat trips to the BVI's when we are in ST John/ST Thomas... have not been to the Bitter End YC though. Will put it on the list for next time!

You did say you don't prefer a resort.
We've been to the French Polynesian Islands a couple of times
Moorea once, Tahaa once, and Bora Bora twice.
We stayed at resorts, but pensions are popular, and you get more of a local feel.
You could even charter a sailboat instead of a resort.
It's one of the most beautiful places we've been to, and the hospitality is second to none.

We've stayed on Grenada at the tail end of a Windjammer sailing week. Quiet beaches. Hotels on the beach big and small. Resorts around the corner. Friendly town.
