where will you be on the 4th

We'll be on the boat at Shell Island from late tonight (wife's already out there) until, probably Sunday mid-day. We are planning on having all of our friends around us. Right now, we are surrounded by can-boats. They can't have our luxury spots! I backed in real close to one (there isn't much room out there). After his neighbor left, he moved over. After he leaves, we'll back another SR in there.

Where we live, the SR's normally back in where our boat is, and the can boats park 100 yds either side of us where the shallow sand extends way out. They like to park and play in the shallow water. We back in where it's deeper right up against the shore.

Happy b-day to me.
No boating for us. Yard work & housekeeping. Gf's family coming up next week. You'd think the dam pope was comming. I'm just not living right.

tmsrb.......CONGRATS! Your lives will be changed forever.......for the better! Scott

Still at work..... 14 hours down, 34 to go...:smt089 Good thing I love my job and the idiots are just about ready to start blow crap up, including hands, feet, garages, etc... should be a sporty shift:thumbsup:

Update - I'm still at work, but, my wife called and several can-boats have been replaced by a 420 Da, 400SB and others - all occupied by our friends. We have room for another SR on either side of our boat for tomorrow. Hope they get there soon. I hate saving spots on the beach. We'll tie off to the boats on either side with long lines until friends show up. Don't get me wrong, all of the SR owners are friends. The only ones we like to avoid are the rental can-boats. The think it's ok to use our hulls to help park their boats and our anchor lines to stop their drift.

I'll be dinghying back out after work for the rest of the weekend.

My wife and I are leaving Richmond VA. with the SeaRay 190 in tow to Lake Cumberland, KY.
The boat will be on and off the lake for the next 2 weeks. Long haul, but worth it. See you all when we return. Be safe everyone!

We will be heading to lake wylie in the morning, everyone be safe and have a great 4th.

I'd like to second that. Remember that boating and heavy drinking don't mix - and try to remind me of that if you see me too.

Not too much further south to Norris Lake Tn, easier access, about the same size and 1/2 the boaters for future reference. Enjoy Cumberland though, it's a beautiful lake as well:thumbsup:

Wife Lili and I are taking her father and several friends out for a dinner cruise this afternoon. Hope we can get it in before the front arrives with its thunderstorms. Then we'll watch the fireworks and concert at Riverfront Park on the tube, leaving the door to the screen porch open so we can hear the concussion of the big shells live.

And to weekday eraser and dpvandy01, I hope that your enjoyment of the weekend is not greatly affected by the lower lake levels. Lake Cumberland will be low for another six years or so while repairs to Wolf Creek Dam are made, or so the Corps of Engineers says; isn't it at about -40' or so now? And TVA says that ten of its tributary lakes are as much as -10' due to low rainfall in their watersheds; I think Norris is one of those. Even so, both lakes are beautiful places to cruise.

We were in Norris last year as well and it was way low but with over 800 miles of shoreline the lake was still plenty big.... As for cumberland.... well that's enough said about that

Here's a link for the Norris guys. Lake is down about 7' or so which is nothing. Scott

DMB =Great show!!!! I am jealous. Have any good live shows?

We've seen him once at the Gorge in Washington, a few times at the Meadows in Hartford when we lived in Western Mass, Providence, RI and thrilled that they are coming to Charleston. Reality is that it became a chicks night out with my wife and 2 of her friends. I'm home watching Nascar and playing taxi for them.

We've just come back from a great afternoon on the lake. With six aboard, we cruised up the lake to Station Camp Creek, near Gallatin, where we anchored in the lee of a small island for dinner. Then back to Creekwood Marina with a gorgeous sunset to the west, and a thunderstorm to the north providing natural pyrotechnics. After docking, we visited with neighbors, had a beer, and wound down a bit. Once we had GRATITUDE buttoned up, we went home and watched the fabulous fireworks show with the Nashville Symphony on the tube, and gentled the dogs who were upset by the booms.
