Heading over there for the weekend. We just want to be somewhere that it's easy to walk to restaurants, shops, bars, etc. Needs to be pet friendly. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I stayed over the labor day weekend at Spring Cove Marina in Solomon's. Couldn't have been happier with the place, awesome in all regards. They are pet friendly, and have a free solar-powered/electric shuttle that will take you anywhere you want to go on the island, and a ways up off the island too. We used it both nights we stayed to get around.

Look up reviews on them at www.activecaptain.com . 5 stars with 20+ reviews...

I was looking at Harbor Island Marina (out on the actual island by the Calypso Bar), but this certainly looks nicer. I like that they have a shuttle too. Thanks!

if you are looking for amenities, Spring Cove, Southern Maryland Yacht Club or Zahnisers, if not, Harbor Island or Beacon Marina. Harbor Island shares a parking lot with THE Tiki-Bar +1.

You can walk the island end to end (Tiki to Spring Cove) in about 20 minutes.

As far as food...

Italian-DiGiovanni's
Local-Stoney's Pier or Stoney's Kingfisher
Other-Holiday Inn Restaurant
All are good.

Just up the road is a micro-brewery called the Ruddy Duck, more excellent food and home made beer.

There's a Hell's Kitchen cook at Catamarans but I'm not fond of their food or atmosphere.

Next to the Tiki is the Grill Seargant, hard to beat their sausage and peppers or barbecue or fries...

We live just a few miles up the road and eat out a lot, I never get tired of any of these places.

Check out the Marine Museum if you get a chance, interesting history and cool stuff there.

If you make it to Stoney's Pier, the Orange Crush is a must have...

Let us know where you end up.

The Spring Cove shuttle will take you as far as the Ruddy Duck (we ate there one evening), and then south to any point on the island in between. btw, seats 5 passengers...

I am heading to Spring Cove Marina next weekend, should I bring my dinghy? This will be my first time going to Solomon's Island.

Thanks!

I'll put in a vote for Zahnisers. I thought the facilities and staff were excellent when I was there last fall. They have a great restaurant as well. Plus they are a short walk to shops and restaurants.

It's pet friendly as well. We had our dogs with us.

We were just at Spring Cove two weeks ago and I wished I had a dinghy. Lots of exploring can be done not to mention its a good way to get "up town". Not that there's really much in town anymore but the marina does offer a free shuttle service also.

+1 on the "bring a dinghy" notion. If dinghying around is your thing, then Solomons is a dinghyers paradise.
