Where to purchase (on-line)?

I have a heat exchanger that needs to be replaced in my 2003 340 Sundancer (496 engines). I have the part number but here in Ottawa the price from Mercury Canada is $1700! On-line in the US they range around $900 +/- .

I haven't purchased any parts from a US on-line site (its a new boat for us) and wondering if anyone can provide guidance of a trusted site(s).

I want to make sure it is a new part and from Mercury.

There are a lot of online places for Mercury that won't ship to Canada. IF you can find one that does and ships via USPS and not UPS I'd love to know about it.

However, since I live in a city which borders the USA I just ship it to a USA address, go over, and pick up the item. An item of this cost would definately result in having to pay HST coming home. Many USA vendors don't offer international shipments or at the very least charge much more for their inconvenience. Then, there are usually brokerage/importation taxes due upon delivery to your Canadian location. There is also usually a considerable time lag, but you aren't going to be using the boat soon anyway! :smt089

Westie, its only 45 min to Ogdensburg New York from Ottawa so I usually have things shipped to the UPS store and pick them up from there.

Jim, thanks for the link/recommendation for Perprotech! The guys there were fantastic to work with, they verified it was a new part and would ship directly from Mercury. Got the part a week ago and its just what was expected ... and $800 cheaper than I could get locally. Would definately deal with them again.
