Our family is planning on a camping/boating trip to Michigan. I have tent camped all over Michigan but this will be the first time to take a boat and our pop up camper. I have camped all over Michigan in a tent and my favorite is Muskegon State Park, lake side.

We are planning on going in the middle of July so hopefully Lake Michigan will be warm enough. I realize I would only be able to take the boat out on the big lake on a calm day.

We would like to be able to camp and have our boat parked on the shore so one of the places I am thinking is Muskegon, bay side campground. I would not have a problem camping on one of the bigger lakes in Michigan either. We would prefer a State Park but will consider anything with a reasonable cost.

I know this is kind of short notice since I will have to reserve a State Park site andthey all fill up as soon as one gets to the 6 month in advance reservation date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you

Well there is the state park in Cadillac mi.with lake mitchell attached via canal.I belive you can camp in the park and keep your boat wet along the canal wall so you dont have to pull it out every night.I know four winns boats are built there and they have a test facility on the north east shore of lake cadillac.there are golf courses and adventure golf and trails for hiking and biking, walley, perch, bass, pike fishing. You could check out michigan.org

Higgins lake state parks is the best, but only the south higgins lake park,,, best sand in michigan and the best inland boating there is....

I responded in your other post as did several others. Please only post a question once in the appropriate category. Most of us use the new 24hr. link and will find it that way. Could one of the moderators combine the two threads?

Aloha State Park in Cheboygan, MI is a nice option.

It is on Mullet Lake one half hour south of Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge.
There is access to Burt Lake to the West and a lock on the East end which allows access to Lake Huron. Mackinaw Island is not far if you feel adventurous.

Years ago we ran our 22 Sea Ray Pachanga all over the area between Cedarville in the Upper Peninsula, Mackinac Island and venturing into Mullet lake. Mullet lake itself is a nice size lake for fishing, skiing.

Definitely worth looking into - have fun wherever you go !!!!!!
