Where should I go? Annapolis or Virginia Beach?

So we are based out of Occoquan River off of the Potomac. This year we are looking to take our new to us 06 340 for a longer run. We were thinking either Virginia Beach or Annapolis. Anyone have any thoughts on the trip? Places to stop on the way? If we do Virginia Beach we are looking at checking off our 3 miles out item on the bucket list along with boating in the ocean.

I'm a partial to Annapolis. Solomons and Cambridge are good stopping options.

Depends on what you want to do, what you want to see, and of course time and money.

If your home water is in the Occoquan, how far are you from National Harbor, DC and other spots. VABEACH on the other hand is a run for you. I'm near RIC so I can tell you a few things I would see enroute to or from VABEACH would be Norfolk, Hampton Roads, Smithfield, Jamestown, and Williamsburg to name a few. Lots of history and nautical stuff there if that's your thing. I cannot speak to Annapolis other than it is a beautiful town, expensive with a pretty good college and a hell of a boat show.

You could always plan one this year and one next.

I think we are looking for a run. National harbor is on our list. We've rafted up at three sisters and ventured to Georgetown. The furthest run we've made was spring cove at solomons. We've been to both Annapolis and Virginia beach by land before so its just a matter of checking out what there is to see and do. More than likely we will do the other one in 2017 unless we get the urge to enjoy cheap fuel and do both this year. You never know. I didn't think about venturing up to Jamestown and Williamsburg. That would be fun.
