Where oh where have my shutters gone?!

I just got home from working on the boat and have an update on my water shutter problem, they are NOT stuck in the y-pipes, in fact they are NOT EVEN INSTALLED! I looked and I see no water shutters on my engines. I used my handy inspection camera and looked all the way down the y-pipes and NADA, nothing. So I guess I should install some shutters ASAP? Is there any good reason to not use them? I can't figure why some PO removed them.

I would install them...easy job. The new style press into the top of the y-pipe. Here is a shot of the new style from last year when I replaced mine.

Do they use grommets or not? Some of mine are missing too.

grommets?...no grommets.

You should defiantly install them. The prevent water from flowing back up into the engine.

Sweet new style. Mine are the pivoting style held in by the small rubber blocks in the sides of the wye pipe. Might look into replacing them.
