So I just bought this old bow rider from a marina who was selling it on consignment. I asked the sales guy about the engine hours and he told me the boat doesn't have an hourmeter. I read the owners manual that I got online from Sea Ray and it says that there is a tach/hourmeter but when I look at the tach there is no hourmeter. Then I read the original spec sheet for the boat and it says under "options/accessories: convenience package" the following: "Hourmeter - bilge" ... does this mean that there is an hourmeter attached to the engine somewhere??

Ours was at the rear on the starboard side right behind the battery switch close to but not right on the transom. Good luck.

We have a 1990 270 Dancer, and the hour meter is on the bulkhead just in front of the engine between the front of the engine and the back of the fuel tank. This may not be the original spot, but it has always been in the bilge area.

Have looked in all the suggested places with no luck. Taking one more look this weekend. The owner's parts manual shows on so I don't understand why I can't find it.

Based on what you wrote in the first post, it sounds like the hour meter would have been an option? Sounds like this boat just doesn't have that option. Either way, it's no big deal. Hours are by no means indicative, one way or the other, of the engine condition.

I have seen many 210's of that vintage, and non of them had an hour meter.

I purchased a 1990 Sea Ray 180 BR last year. Mine too does not have an hour meter, though the manual shows it should have one.

LOL... best reply yet... can't find it because it's not there, not because I suffer from "man eyes"! Now why didn't they mention that in the official shop manual? THANKS!!

I'm not sure what you mean by "official" shop manual, but owner's manuals are very basic, often times pertaining to more than one model and many times just list all available options in there, without differentiation between individual boats. Just like a car's manual may have a section about a NAV system, yet the actual car may not have that option.

If by "shop" manual, you're referring to the Mercruiser manual, then that has nothing to do with the boat and the individual options it may have.

I have a 1991 225 BR. My hour meter is on the starboard side. It is in the compartment where the battery is. It is very hard to see and read. When I lift the cushion to get my convertible top out you can see it on the right side. It's in the concealed convertible top storage area. The hour meter is on my right about 2 feet off the floor. It is located on the side of the engine compartment. Not in the engine compartment but in the battery compartment. It is a box about 2" x 2"
