In my quest to be a DIY'er with LDII where are all the fellow DIY'ers buying their maintenance parts?

Tonight I was searching for oil filters, fuel filter, and oil and it seems to get boat specific items locally I'm SOL unless I purchase through the marina parts counter ..... So I did some searching online and came across wholesalemarine.com which had good prices.

Post up if you like some other online sources.

    Thanks

I've found that 90% of what I need for my boat is available on Amazon for the best price. Oddly, oil is about the only exception I've found. West Marine has the best price on oil around my area (if you use the Merc branded stuff).

Walmart for oil. Boatzincs.com for anodes. I Google part numbers or descriptions for the best price on most other stuff. Amazon is usually the best, but not all of the time.

I use dieselpartsdirect, fisheriesupply, Sbmar.com, eBay and amazon but sometimes the parts counter is the best option.

Amazon for most everything but oil. That (Delo 400 15W40) comes from Costco when they run their sale on the gallon containers.

Walmart for oil, WholesaleMarine.com or MarineEngineParts.com for most of the other things. If I just have to have it today I will sometimes go to stress marine (West Marine), but their prices seem to be higher on about everything.

Some walmarts carry mercruiser oil and fuel filters and mercruiser oil at a better price compared to online vendors.

I popped into the service department at the marina today and their prices are pretty reasonable for "need it now" maintenance parts ..... so in a pinch they are just a short walk away.

Nice to know they stock pretty much all the normal tune up parts.

I'd pay 1.5-2x online pricing to get my butt back out on the water sooner when in need.

I use a local repair shop/marine store off Oneida lake for right now stuff. I’ve found he’s about the same as iboats.com and marineenginerepair.com. Bought quite a few new old stock items on eBay as well. Running a 1994 Mercury 135HP O/B and my previous boat had a Johnson 1978 115HP O/B.

I do my best to use the smaller local shops. I don't mind spending a bit more if they keep it on their shelves or can bring it in for a reasonable price.

I wish I could still find RockAuto's Marine page. I heard they stopped it in 2016. I think Amazon had better shipping prices and were quicker getting the parts to consumers.

I think I've used most of these sites that you all have listed as the prices here at the local marinas are off the charts. Only if it is something that is keeping me ashore and I want want to go out today do I dare venture into the local stores.

iBoats is good. So is Amazon (and I can't stand Amazon) for boat stuff. But dealing with iBoats on a return basis is difficult, so be very careful.

All my good arrived this week from Whole Sale Marine.

The only concern I raised with them is how they packed the oil and fuel filters. Their packaging material "crumbs" entered the filter packaging and into the filters. I suggested they place filters in zip lock bags to prevent contamination. I'm just going to use a vacuum and clean out the filters before installation.

    Filter update:

After emailing Wholesale Marine about the concern about contaminated filters from how they were packaged with styrofoam pieces, I just got a package of new replacement filters.

    Thanks Wholesale Marine. :)

Try your local auto parts store. As long as you have part numbers they will be able to cross them into their numbers and your not paying marine prices.
