Hey Great Lakers, ice is almost all out of our marina! When do you splash? We have a April 20th date. Picked the wax up last night. Now it just needs to get above 50 so I can get to it.

Jeff-
We all run that risk of a late snow storm but, I would rather be in than out. They just put up the long term weather forcast for us and we no longer see a freeze for the evening temps. Hope all goes well on your end.

Mike

My slip is in Racine. I used to go in around April 1 hoping to get some fun in once or twice before May. It worked out about every other year. But it seems I was the only person on our dock a lot of the time. No one with whom to work on projects AND usually freezing my buns off. So sometime around May 1 is now my norm.
In December I bought a boat in heated storage and held back big bucks subject to sea trial. I own the boat and call the shots, however, the former owner will be wanting his money. I expect he would like an early April sea trial. In fairness I guess I'll get in mid April.

Mike

I'll take the chance on the April storm as well. We just purchased our boat late August last year so we just got a tease.

Jeff

Launch date set: April 13 @ 2:00 (Don't try to get me in the office that Friday-I'm in "off-site meetings")

Wow! You guys are early birds! My launch is May 18 ----Yes, May 18. Our marina opens May 1, but we just don't get better weather until mid to late May. We've done the Friday of the weekend before Memorial day for three years now. Incidentally, haul out for us is usually the Monday after Labor Day.

My marina opens May 15th... I'm camping out in the parking lot on the 14th...

I watch the 10 day temperature forcast and usually splash in West Michigan April 15. I will not move the boat from heated storage until I'm sure we can wax the hull and dump it in. Nothing is winterized so we have to get it in the water so we can run heat to protect it if temps would drop into the high teens or low 20s.

We will be waxing this weekend. Temps in Wisconsin to be in the high 50'S. Have a lot of work to do on the boat this year, whole new interior from bow to stern
We keep the boat on the fox river in Green Bay, and thats been open for about two weeks. Splash date set for April 15th

Launch set up for April 27, but likely first week of May. Still a lot of ice to melt up there in Georgian Bay!

When the temperature outside hits 70 but my storage shed is still in the 40's I'm thinking heated indoor next year... Lucky to get wax on and in the water by mid-May!

My plans for this weekend may get pushed back.
Wonderful Chicago weather!

Delays, Delays, Officaly we recieved 8 inches of the white stuff here.
Last night it rained and its now about 4-5 of heavy wet stuff. Took a look today and there is one boat in our marina. Looks like our plans will move out also!. Come on Sun!

Thanks , it was a beautiful ride up the lake from Harbor Hill, the water wasn't turned on anywhere so I stopped in at Gergory's to take on some water for the Head. Boat ran great, plenty warm enough, Offshore breeze, great cruise up Lakeshore.

I launched April 13th, the deadline to be out of Belle Maer (Lake St. Clair). Since I am moving Blue Chip to MacRay Harbor, BM wants a daily fee to stay beyond the 13th. Well, in sunny blue skys and a 20MPH west wind I embarked into the lake and realized too late NO CHANNEL MARKERS ARE IN PLACE YET!. With shallows all around, and mocha water I, by luck I suppose, got into the deep water. :smt009
