Whats your Boats name and what does it mean to you

Mine is "Four Suns"... bet you could not guess that...

It was named because we had four boys... but... I found at later it has other meanings.

In ancient Mayan culture, "Four Suns" means total world destruction...

In ancient Alabamian wife culture, it means "if you ever cheat on me, you'll die a poor and broken man. Assuming my brothers don't kill you."

You are not allowed to say ******** anymore on CSR. They recently allowed the word compass here.

Carissima – has its roots in both Latin and Italian. Translation: “My dearly beloved woman”

Right translation Jim, but you may be interested in knowing that "carissima" (literally very dear) means also "very expensive"!:grin::grin:

The expensive part is of course why our boats are by default always referred to in the female gender.

Not coincidentally, the name is also the alma mater of the college my daughter attended in upstate New York, which is also very expensive – so now it all makes sense.

Azara.
Named this for three reasons:
1) It was the name of my wife's Arabian horse when she was a child.
2) Azara was the name of a significant schooner out of New York in 1904. (we have a photo of her in the galley)
3) There's an opera named "Azara". My son is an opera singer so that made sense.

1988 205 Barretta cuddy: KIKI II:
My wife's nick name, I guess to appease her for "letting" me buy a boat with my own hard earned money. I lesson learned and never forgotten.

Now divorced in 2000, I pursue my quest for the next boat, without having to break my golden rule: I don't like being told what to do, and I will not ask permission to do it! if it directly relates to my personal life!

2003 288 Bayliner Command Bridge: DELIVERED
The "I" was a wine bottle, my trucking company delivers wines & spirits, and also I felt "delivered" from the aforementioned quagmire called marrige. (ugh Bayliner, cheap just to get back into boating, but it ran well and served it's 1yr purpose)

2004 320DA SOLUS TRANQUILLUS
Life was good, and I was happily alone and peaceful.

2006 390DA SOLUS TRANQUILLUS
A reminder to keep the good life. So to really enjoy the fruits of my labor.............

2008 07' 48DA FRA DIAVLO
53yo and the best years of my life ahead, I decided on something fun. It fits my love for spicy food. I'm always asked if I'm in the restaurant business, "no but I'm a professional diner" as I eat in restaurants (no diners or fast food joints) 7/52. Besides, the red/black lettering looks sharp, and is rarely seen on a boat. The 48DA is a head turner.

What's next? When I retire...Viking Sportcruiser 70 MY and a slip in the Key's
for the winter, and LI Sound for the summer. Now just to hold back the itch for the next 10 years...

...

...I'm learning a lot here!!! After reading your post I did some search and I discovered Fradiavlo is the recipe for a spicy sauce.... I just used to know "Fra Diavolo" was a 18th century brigand in Naples

"JOE FABULOUS"; (named after my son) was the name of our black '06 240.
We love our boating and our music so it was easy to name our new (to us) black '07 290... "BACK IN BLACK"
Cheers!

Kryptonite-The word kryptonite is also used in modern speech as a synonym for Achilles' heel, the one weakness of an otherwise invulnerable hero.
Our love of boating is our weakness. Boating comes before
everything else!! lol Oh and the boat is green too!

I think your next boat name should be "Gaylord Fokker" (from the movie "Meet the Parents")
:smt043

Nah, I think I'll just name it Gary........thanks for kicking me when I'm down....:smt089.

I've actually thought of renaming it Seaduction III, just not sure I could afford to keep it after the divorce....:smt021

My wife was the inspiration, "Last Dance", of course its a DA and my wife says its the last one. She has said that about the last three boats. In actuality this is our first DA, all of the others were SR bridge boats. So I just figure she wants to go back to a DB for the next one!!

La Panchita...

The name of the Beach in Cuba that my wife's family had a house on before Castro took it.

The Boat is her reminder of that beautiful house on that beautiful beach on a beautiful island ..

Loss Reality, because when I'm on the water I'm Loss in Reality.... The boat fits me and my family just fine, what a way of life to be Loss in Reality in this day and my age. LMAO:smt001

Is that Johnathan who skippers the Time Bandit from the Deadliest Catch? - sure looks like him?

every time the wife and i go out for a weekend we decide to wait another little while to start having kids

Haha...good thread, some great names!

Ours is "Serendipity", as it was the first "date" movie my wife and I watched together, and it is one of our favorites still. As well, love that word and it's meaning...fortunate accident. Kind of describes how we met and in reality, how life often times is.
