Whats your Boats name and what does it mean to you

I guess this would be a SeaRay Boat question so I shall limit it to the SRV 270 I own.

I named it the Event HoriXon after the movie Event Horizon. I used the X in the name becasue it evoked mystery and gave it uniqueness for the beholder. The X did however hold the sound desired in the English pronunciation. The move, if you had never seen it; was about a ship that crossed into hell via a black hole and was able to return after a epic struggle . This boat has done the same after being abandon in a slip and sunk after power ceased to run the pumps anymore . My slow but methodical restoration of this vessel represents it's humble yet unmistakable return to service after almost being lost to neglect, history and a inability to see the beauty in a classic SeaRay.

Our boat name is LEJA LIFE. It is named after the beach LEJA BEACH on Fire Island, NY where I met my wife over 25 years ago. We vacation still at that same beach every chance we get with our kids. Enjoying every minute of our SeaRay.

Kini Kia.....the wifes name in Hawaiin..(Cynthia) We were married there and trying to keep the honeymoon going..Ha Ha!!

We combined the name of our favorite beach bar in the BVI's -The Soggy Dollar Bar-with the wet condition of our always in the water dog and named our boat "The Soggy Dog"

Ours is an obvious play on words relating to GPS, but is also a metaphor for away on vacation. No matter the point on a chart we find ourselves, since we're on the boat, we're away on vacation.

Away Point 1 is a Nova 250XL. AP2 is much more boat in every regard, so she's named Away Point 2 (squared).

After 4+ months on the hard, I desperately need a "vacation"!

Our 260DA is named "At Ease". My wife and I met and served in the military. She retired after 23 years and I said uncle after 10 years. At Ease seemed to be a fitting name that fit with our military background. When I am on the boat it is where I am most at ease.

Ours is J.C. SAM named after our grand children Jessica, Cole, Sarah, Alex, Madeline, we told the kids any more and we would have to name the dingy after them.

My wife wanted to know if we could have a boat that was nameless so I named the boat
"ANONYMOUS" which is defined as nameless or un-named.

BON DIA...local greeting on the island of Bonaire, our favorite scuba destination, returning sometime this summer.

The current population of the island are decendents of African slaves the Dutch imported to harvest salt from seawater in the 1700 & 1800s. The S end of the island is very flat & using a system of dikes, windmills, slave labor, thousands of burros & the Sun, rock salt was harvested for shipment back to Europe to preserve fish & meat. The salt operation still continues, albeit the heavy labor has been replaced by mechanial systems & the purpose is industrial. The Salt Pier where the ships tie-up for loading is one of the must do dive sites. Today's free roaming burros are the island's symbol of the emancipation of the slaves from forced labor. The only fence is around the airport. The other animal in abundance is the S American flamingos which feed on the tiny shrimp that live in the brine.

Salt 'n Sand The sale of the salt business I owned part of was to pay for the boat and the silica (sand) which I also owned a part of was to pay for the fuel and maintenace.

We went to Bonaire last February and loved the island. It was the favorite out of all of the islands we visited on our cruise!

I was born in N.Ireland and my wife is first generation Cuban (some mix huh?) so we came up with a blend of our heritages

"HAVANA SHAMROCK"

when my wife saw the boat in the water at the dock she said it was so small it looked liked a tub toy, so thats what we named her

"Watts-N-Shots"............

Many people have inquired about the meaning.

I am in electrical utilities and my wife is a nurse.

Of course the younger crowd thinks it stands for loud music and booze.

Sto lot! It's a Polish saying the means may you live 100 years. My mother, who died on her 91st birthday, used to write that on every greeting card she ever sent. My kids, who loved her dearly, thought naming the boat after her with that phrase would be a nice rememberance. I agree.

MoonChild ...first owner in NJ named her and I love it.

The funniest thing is trying to have the marina masters around the Tyrrhenian Sea pronouncing it right :smt021
:grin::grin::grin:

As we didn't want to pick the name of one of our dogs over the other we went with the breed and named our 380 "Dasch Boat" with a little help from the movie Das Boot. On our previous boat (300 Weekender) we had no name on it for the first 15 years we had her, finally got tired of the how come you don't have a name questions and put "No Name...of course" on the transom. I stole that from NY Yankee broadcaster Michael Kay's daily description of the Yankee uniform when he was there radio broadcaster

I bought our 320 and told my wife a few days later. She never asked what I was naming it so I didn't offer it until she saw it at the dock the day we picked it up...Seaduction (I know, not a real original), but I've always found the sea to be a very seductive environment. She was with me the day I ordered the 40 but again didn't ask what I was naming it...she saw Seaduction II at the dock the day we picked it up. She was with me when I bought the 44 but this time she told me, in no uncertain terms, that she HATED the name Seaduction and that she would name this boat and it would NOT be Seaduction III. When she finally settled on a name I was so embarrassed by it that I thought of cancelling the order.....of course I didn't but now it is I that HATES the name of the boat....Endless Love....our wedding song. When I want to bust her chops I tell her the boat is my endless love....she tells me she knows....then I tell her Seaduction III will be the next new bigger boat. SHe just rolls her eyes.
