whats a better deal - sea ray gurus

The '07 260 and '08 240 both look like they have bolt on platforms but either way the specs list them as having the same overall length.

My bad...For 2008 the 260 had a molded platform. The 260 is a bolt on for 2007. .

So again, and appreciate advice;

What boat would you guys prefer, money aside, a 2007 240 with 330hp, a 2007 260 wuth 316hp, or a 2008, like new230 260hp (cheap...I know I said money aside)

And why one our the other...still don't see advantage of 260

As I said before you need to decide what you want. Tower or Windlass, trailer, etc , etc. They are all about the same.

The only advantage in the old style 260SD was if you wanted the 496 Mag.

The 230SD is not the same boat as the 240 or 260 I thought you did not want a 22' boat?

I ditto Chuck:

however, assuming all surveys are equal, I like the 240 but it bothers me that there is no windless. It is like In ground sprinklers and power windows, once you have it, you don't want to do without.

240 with a trailer. As the others have said -- the 230 isn't in the same class. The 240 has the best layout of any deck boat by a long shot. The reason it was Sea Ray's most popular model is because everything about the boat makes sense.

Ditto, but then I may be a bit bias. Heck you can even turn one into a small cruiser:grin:

ok fellas, my one deal just fell through....so im now between two boats.......

they have same engine...
(previously said they didnt)

one is a sundeck 260, kept outta water/local owner/one owner. still year left on warrante. dry docked...only one owner (seems very well maintained..said he wouldnt let anyone use head...wow! worse than me!) 2007 with 100 hrs. has windless anchor-private deal. thanks to u guys ive learned this is same boat as 240 with bigger block/deeper bow and 500# heaver (is that a good thing?/more fuel)

other is the 240.....40 hrs 2008 year. 100 miles away. broker involved. does have trailor. has wake tower. two owners (hmmmmm) has been kept in water (on trailor now at brokerage).

both for 45k (after negotiating)....

assuming both get FULL sea test and survey i will be paying for.

thanks guys.....im new to this but love the sea ray sundecks!

Jeff,

Are you saying the 260 SD has a 496 Mag as the power plant and what engine is the 240 equipped with?

The 240 has a 6.2 l engine. The 260 is listed as 316 HP.

I am not familiar with a 316 HP MerCruiser. The 6.2 is rated at 320 HP and the 496 Mag/8.1 liter, which is a big block, is rated at 375 HP.

Perhaps the 260 also has a 6.2 liter engine. A picture of the engine cowling would answer the question.

I like dealing with the owner, especially an anal retentive original owner... So I would go with the 260. It is very nice to have a trailer. If you have a truck that can tow the boat, a trailer can save you a lot of money. You have to have a place to put the trailer too... But you said in your previous post that a trailer was not important to you, so If I were you, I would go with the never used head dry stored local boat...
