What was your First Car?

1971 Ford Pinto 4-speed that was a fun little car but I followed with a 1967 Camaro RS followed by a 1969 Camaro 300HP 350 with the rock crusher 4-speed. All during high school...

Did your 69 have the borg warner super T ten gear box. You didn't even need to use the clutch when slamming those gear home.

I really get a kick out of my kids when they tell me about their fast Jap and Euro cars. I let them know we could load 6 people comfortably into our cars, do 145 all day long with the air on and 8 track playing and still have enough left over to drag race it on Sunday afternoon.

The one in this picture is a great example of same. Sure wished I would have kept it but I traded it for a van for the family.

Now we did use a wee bit more fuel.....:grin::grin:

Hubby still has a muscle car in the garage. 1980 Camaro. Been his project car for the last 12 years or so. Seems, kids, family, house and boats always manage to work thier way first for his time and money.

I had a long list of cars when I was a kid. Starting with the '57 Chev I posted about a little while back, it was followed by (in order):

1970 Super Bee (440)
1947 Chevy Pickup (5-window) (235 with dual Fenton intake and split Fenton exhaust)
1968 Ford XL (w/ GT 390)
1966 Plymouth VIP (383)
1965 Implala SS (w/ 300HP 327, 4-speed rock crusher)
1973 Bronco (302)
1956 Chevy Del-Ray (2-dr) (custom built 383)
1973 Mailibu (350, big cam)
1972 Chevelle SS (factory 350)
1983 Mustang GT (factory 302)

All that before I was 25. Wish I had each and every one of them back (except the VIP). Lol! Paid less then $2k for each, and a LOT less for some of them.

Mine was a 1972 Dodge Coronet...given to me by my parents. Blech. I love the brochure on the website. "Rejoice, four-door lovers" !!

But now many years later I own a 1966 Chevelle SS (my 3rd car) for 20 years now...so I'm going backwards.

Did you see my post about my 1970 Ford XL? I've never met anyone else who has even heard of one. Mine was Brown with a white vinyl roof and white vinyl seats. 390... I beat my buddy in his 1970 Camaro RS (souped up with 50's...) two out of three races.

PS - I still have the 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE (13B) that I bought the day after Christmas, 1984 in a snow storm in Omaha, Ne. 100% stock (except for 6 sets of tires), Black, moonroof, louvers, red leather interior.

Mine was black with a white interior (that I dyed black). Loved it! Your the only other person I know who has had one also. Most people try and tell me it was an LTD or a Fairlane.Nope, it was an XL.

EXACTLY!

By the way, my 2001 GMC Sierra is a C3. A C3? What's that? (Anniversary truck with quality, ride, and performance, or something like that.) Even the dealers don't know what they are - and they never have.

Does it make you feel better to know it's in a million pieces. I've been working on the restoration for a couple of years now. Mark

Yes, absolutely if you'll give those millions of pieces to a good home with a good collection of tools.

Otherwise, no. Sorry. You're a nice guy, but...

Hmm. Yes and no. Well, I don't know about ricewagons, but a new 2011 Mustang 5.0 would smoke a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda in both 0 to 60 and the quarter mile.
Mustang:
0-60: 4.7sec
Quarter mile: 13.0 @ 110.6

Hemi Cuda:
0-60: 5.8
Quarter mile: 14 @ 102

That said, I'd rather have the 'Cuda. But if I was going to drive it everyday (and pay for it!) I'd rather have the Mustang. $43,000 for a fully equipped convertible vs. upwards of $150,000. On the other hand I wish I bought that 1971 440 6-pk convert that was only five grand way back in 1980. Oh well

The C3 was the Denali package before they called it Denali. Dont ask me what C3 means or where it came from, but I know side by side with a Denali package, they are about the same. They didnt make too many C3's so hang on to it, might be worth big bucks some day.

My first was a 1988 s-10 pickup. 2 wheel drive, 4 banger, 5 speed, no power brakes, a/c, power steering, radio, and even had to drill a hole in the fender for an antenna. I may be dating myself, but i bought this from my dad in 2000 for $500. Spent a few years fixing it up then found out 2wd sucks in ohio. since then have owned several vehicles, now I drive an 02 duramax crew cab and love it! I'm a whopping 24 yrs old now. lol

1st was a 1968 Camaro, 2nd was a 1972 Camaro, now, just for fun, 1969 Camaro RS/SS 396

I have underwear older than you....no, really!

First car was a 1967 Chevy Malibu SuperSport coupe with a 327/275 engine and a Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission. Current ride is a GMC Envoy Denali for play and a F150 SuperCrew 4x4 for work.

In 1982 my first car was :
1972 caddy sedan deville then,
1974 caddy sedan deville,
1970 challenger:
various pieces of junk :,
then family cars, now a jap gas sipper for a 70 mile round trip to work. and a 2010 bmw 325i convertible for the weekends:thumbsup:

1967 Olds Cutlass 442. Bought it from the original owner for $2500 bucks. I should have restored but at the time it was just another "old car with a big motor". Sold it for what I paid. Needless to say the next owner restored and sold for $40K. Kicking myself everyday for that one.

I could have bought another '67 442 before that one. It was a Black with Red Interior, rare W30 post model that had 31k miles. 4 speed and built for the strip. My dad took one ride in it and said "no way...you'll kill yourself in that rocket ship". Saw that same car sell at Barrett Jackson for $100k.

Now I just have to settle for a diecast model :smt089

1965 ford custom 500 240 6 cyl paid 200 put three gallons of gas made about 3 miles died just cranked no start . I thought holy crap this thing sucks on gas 3 miles 3 gallons put three more watched run thru the rust in tank my grandfather handed me a candle and said rub it where the gas is leaking that slowed it enough to get home and replaced tank for 15 bucks from junk yard . my wifes first was a 79 ford pinto 4 spd pumpkin orange hated that thing everytime we did donuts in the dirt the cam follower's would fall off from over reving the motor.
1967 chevelle ,73 chevy c 10 ,79 ford bronco lifted 79 plymouth trail duster,
1970 nova
1972 nova
1971 pont ventura
1972 buick skylark 350 kicked the crap out of the iroc z/28's
now 2000 audi a-6 go figure but 1971 gmc p/u with 725 hp 496 big block play toy! never grow up !!:smt038

I saw one for sale in the late 70's. It had the 429 engine in it. It was a dark red color, very pretty.
