What was your First Car?

1967 Chevelle SS with a 327.

1980 Chevette. AM/FM, 5 speed manual transmission, and AC. Bought it new. The best thing about it (besides that it was paid for) was that I knew my wife didn't date me just to ride in my car.

I bought two wrecked Mustangs, a '71 & a '72. Took the best parts off of each to build one car.

Thanks Mitch. (my brother, techmitch here on CSR). You were teaching me then & you are still teaching me now. One of these days I'll be able to teach you something!

First car was my dad's hand-me-down 68 Chrysler Newport that I inherited when he bought his 76 New Yorker Brougham. I still have the NYB.

First car that I purchased was a used 72 Dodge Challenger R/T 340 4-BBL I wish I still owned that car!

First new car that I bought was an 83 Imperial. Still own that one. They don't have the 83 brochure on that site, but I still have the brochure from when I bought the car. I'll have to scan it for that guy.

1969 Z/28 Camaro. Bought it in 1980. Still have it:smt038

LOL - my parents had a '74 Chrysler Newport Custom - with a 400 CI V8, man that car was a boat! Electronic governor @96 mph, couldn't get me away from that cop. :( 3 months after I got my license.) Another time, I was going to fast around a 90 degree turn on icy roads, and I completely dumped into a 3' drop with snow all the way up to the windows. After rocking back and forth for a bit, I finally got her out of the ditch and went on to my school HS dance!

1969 Chevrolet Impala... two door... Well.. it had two doors before the Michigan salt ate them away.

my parents had a '69 Impala convertible, for 1 yr, it started rusting all over, after that, they got a '70 ford Torino 500 - That Impala was shortest they ever owned a car.

Wow most of you had some :DREAM MACHINES: for 1st cars!

Yeah looking at some of those classics!!!!

My first was a Volkswagen Beetle 6 volt version!
Had to put (and recharge weekly) a 12 volt battery under the 'bonnet' to power my stereo.
Man I loved that car, we went so many places together, ended up like so many 'first cars I suspect bent beyond 'economical repair' unfortunately.

You can tell the age of the guys that had the nice old cars because they were cheap back in the day. When I was a teenager you could buy 55, 56 & 57 Chevys any where from $50 to $200 all day long.
When I got out of HS My Dad was going to sign for a new 66 Chevy II Nova SS 327 350hp 4spd list was $3000 I had a good Union Job it paid $2.35 per hr (but my future EX-wife had other ideas). That car I saw go at Barrett Jackson in low mile stock condition for $70k here is one that went for 99K http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/archivecarlist.aspx?year=1966&make=CHEVROLET&model=NOVA

Ya and then some of these folks first cars where 80's models and handme downs already! My dad had a 66 Chevy II Nova SS He used it as his work car! I mean he drove it to the ground... It has a pool cue holding up the drivers seat, and a piece of plywood on the floorboard. He would tell people he was ready for ice fishing. Drive on Lake Pepin, move the plywood, through a hook and line on this pool cue and there ya go! LOL !

1971 Ford Pinto 4-speed that was a fun little car but I followed with a 1967 Camaro RS followed by a 1969 Camaro 300HP 350 with the rock crusher 4-speed. All during high school...
