I'm in the process of purchasing tires for my stock height '05 Tundra DC 4WD truck. There are so many options :smt017. I have been visiting Tundra solutions forum for reviews and opinions, but I would like to know what the boating community are utilizing?
Looking forward to your input.

I would go with the Michelin LTX. They have a very smooth ride and stiff sidewalls which will help with side to side sway. I live on a Mountain and coming up and down everyday is hard on tires. Every brand I ever purchased wore out quicker than expected. I got 55,000 miles out of the LTX's on my last Expedition.

Good Luck.

I have BF Goorich A/T Terrians on my Tacoma.
I frequent Toyotanation forums and there is a bunch of info there too.
Lots of guys running Toyo Open Country, Bridgstone Revos, .....My BF's are good but they wear fast

On my Titan I just went with what the stock tires were on it got them at Sams Club for about HALF what all the tire stores wanted.

How much are you pulling? How aggresive of a tread do you need for your boat ramps?

I run Bridgestone Revos, great tire, good aggresive tread for my sandy ramps. I shopped for a high sidewall rating (went with E rated). I was tired of airing the tires up and down each time I wanted to haul. Now with the E rated sidewalls, I don't have to worry about it. I am towing 8500 lbs.

I'm running BF Goodrich All Terrains for both my summer (315/70R17 Load range E) and winter (Siped 285/75R16 Load range D).

Mileage is alright; you can usually see around 40-45k out of a set provided you have a good alignment and rotate your tires regularly. Really, for an AT tire, geared more toward off road than on road, the tire wear is pretty good. On road handling is great, ride is good for a truck tire with that load range, a bit noisier than less aggressive tires.

I had Pirelli Scorpions installed on my father's truck; great tires, handle on-road well, ride good, not very noisy. But I'd hesitate doing anything off road with them more than easy two-tracking (tread is obviously more street geared than off-road; I'd call it a light duty off-road tire where the BFG is a high-moderate duty off road tire).

I've had Goodyear Wrangler's before; they were okay, very poor wet traction. Had Michelin before as well; good general purpose all around tire.

Just bought two sets of 4 Michelins for truck and wife's SUV. They simply can't be beat. When you drive away with them after replacing anything else, you can tell the difference in smoothness and quietness almost instantly.

Michelin Cross Terrain tires on my Navigator. The first set of Continentals barely made 35,000 miles, were awful in snow and hydroplaned (on a 3 ton truck!) in the rain. The last set of Cross Terrains lasted over 90,000 miles, handled all weather including snow and rain. They didn't hydroplane at 70 mph even after 90,000 miles.

The first and last Mark VIII we had came with Goodyears. Goodyears are so bad that when we complained about the car's ride and handling the dealer just replaced all four with Michelins... no questions asked, no charge. I won't run anything else.

Best regards,
Frank C

I believe in Michelin soooo much, that when I bought my current truck (7 years ago), I wouldn't buy one without Michelins. The dealers would not agree to trade them out, even for a price premium, and it's a good thing. I found a new GMC model that came with 17" rims and Michelin Cross Terrain tires. 2001 GMC Sierra C3 (one year model predecessor to the Yukon Denali). Awesome, special edition truck with awesome tires. Needed new tires after 7 years. I can live with that.

Have Michelin Cross-Terrain SUV on the wifes Pathfinder.....Been great so far

Michelin LTX load range E @ 70 psi. Everyone I talked too said these tires have excellent ride and wear characteristics. A little pricey but so far well worth it.

I've been running Cooper Discoverer ATR on both of my trucks. Decent tire for the money & made in the USA.
