Is a 11ft dinghy for my 2008 340DA too big to mount on the back using the Nautley Dinghy Ramp HD?
http://www.dinghyramp.com/

The inflatable I'm looking at is the Saturn SD330.

The motor is a Tohatsu 6hp 4 Stroke.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have a 8' inflatable that I can't figure out how/where to put on our 38DA. We have a center transom door that complicates things. I did have it tied down on the bow with the attachments for the sunpads, this worked well and looked like SeaRay had designed it for this very dinghy......except it somewhat blocked the view from the cockpit. Now it sits uninflated in a bag in the stern walkway right over where the stern table plugs in. Figure I'll just have to pump up when I want to use the it!!

B-Fit....That's only 1 foot shorter than your beam. I would suggest measuring the width of your swim platform and would caution against getting one that extends beyond the ends of your swim platform. Ours is longer, and makes docking with the dinghy on the platform a little stressful. The dinghy can become a very expensive fender.....

Mike and Jeff,
Thanks for the reply, so would you suggest a 9'6" dinghy? Docking is limited, I have the boat on a lift at my house.

Jon

I agree with what Jeff says... I have a 9'8" dink on my 300 Dancer, using the hurley davits. The beam on my boat is 10'6'. With the motor up, I have to cheat a little bit leaving the bow of the dink exposed a touch beyond my beam...I wish I had gone with a 9 footer...

Good point Still LauCo, I'll look at the 9'6". Any comments on the Saturn inflatable? Does the Hurley system work well?

As you and I found out the hard way, the beam is measured at the widest point on the boat...which is not necessarily the stern. My beam is listed as 8' 6", my dinghy is 8' 6", and the dink hangs over about 8" to a foot.

That's why I suggested Jon actually measure the width of his platform, just to be sure.

I have a 10' 10" 255 horsepower that I tow behind Just Ducky. Seats three, good to go from boat to boat or to shore, tows skiers and tubers. Could use some more power, though.

Best regards,
Frank

Jon,

We have an Achilles 8'6" airfloor (the model number was LSI-88 in 2006). It was the smallest I could find that carried 4. We have a Mercury 6-hp four-stroke and carry the dinghy on the swim platform and the motor in the cockpit.
