What out drive

How can I ID the type of outdrive i have? I have looked all over for the shift cable with no luck. I need to replace the bellows as well. I dont want to guess its an Alpha and it be a 225 or an 888. It is stuck in gear and I was told the shift cable is broke. If anyone has a pic of a 74 240 SD that I could see and compair. There is also a Valve of some sort the it attached to the trim pump via 2 hoses that is laying around. It is about a 2x2 plate and the valve it about 3-4 inches tall. No clue as to where it goes.

I snaped a few today. There is no shift cable or anywhere for one. I took pics of top of trans in hopes someone can tell me how this shifts or what I have so I can find any info about it.

I did remove the top plate you see in the last pic to see if that was where it shifts. All i seen was the band and a 1x3 steel bar that goes on the band. The plate looks like it has a servo that pushes the bar and pushes on the band. On the trans the plate that says model MCM-A seral 05103.

what you have there my friend is a TRS outdrive with merc II automatic transmission, the outdrive will not have a cable, the outdrive plugs into the back of the transmission and the transmission does the shifting if working properly. what are the syptoms of why you think you need a cable???
i read thru again and it states you are stuckinforward, no pun...the forward pack is burnt together. i do alot of these MercII transmissions. if you would like to discuss further feel free to call me. 330-273-8291 or 330-322-8817 eric

Thank You Eric for the info. As we talked today I can tell you know these outdrives. You can tell I dont know squat about them. I am going to start it up this weekend and let it warm up and see what it does. I will not put it in gear while running. I was told that it was free turning not long ago. So I thought I would let it warm up and see if by some mircle it will free back up.
The guy I got it from has returned my 442 and has agreed to work it out with me. What a stand up guy. He didn't realize it needed so much work and neather did I. So far my first boat has been a bark up the butt so far. But hey its a boat so its going to.
