I have to change the intake water hose coming from the transom and there is no room under or behind my engine while it is in the boat to do this. My fuel pump and cooler assembly also seems to be flopping around under the engine too instead of attached to the port engine mount. I suspect the bracket connection is probably rusted off so I have a new bracket for that as well.

What other things would be good to change while the engine is out as I don't think I will be very fond of doing this exercise again in the near future. I just want to make sure and get all of the parts I'll likely need before hand. Thx.

Man, I'd love to have my engines on a bench for a while. Paint or replace anything that has rusted, do a tune-up, I assume you'll replace the impeller while working on the pump...

Haven't some people with that "B3 disease" with the water intake changed to a through-hull?

Degrease and clean the whole ER while you can too of course...

Good point with the starter. -Ordered.

How often do the couplers go out?

I'd change the steering pin in the gimbal to a stainless. I'd pull the gimbal (pretty easy) and do the gasket on the transom assembly and re-install with 4200. Replace o-ring at the base of the Y-pipe (very easy).

Thanks all. Great suggestions! Parts should be here on Monday.

Bilge pump ops check? Mine are sure hard to access with a 496 in the way.
