What kind of washer? Merc 3.5 oil drain

I have a recent Mercury 3.5 outboard. The oil drain plug is leaking so I replaced the washer with a copper one (like I use on cars) but the copper will corrode!

What material should I use? Aluminum, fiber gasket, ??

The original one is metal of some sort.

On various outboards over the years, I've seen plastic, fiber and o-rings.

Plastic would work! I am thinking brass because of corrosion resistance and its soft enough.

I will seriously consider plastic!
