Looking into buying or fabricating guide on's for my 21' Seville MC on a ShoreLand'r trailer. When I am loading it up I have a hard time centering it because everything is under water. I can do it but have had to back into the water again to push it over a couple inches. I figured some sort of guide on would help me out. The frame is 2 x 5 tube if that matters.

Looking for suggestions.

Thx.

I had the same boat in the cc style and never needed guides with a roller trailer. I backed trailer down only till the middle set of rollers was touching the water. I would then put bow dead center and crank it on.. I think you are backing in to far. BTW.electric winch is a big help. I loaded mine alone 99% of the time. Let the rollers do their job. GL

P.S. A front safety chain might come in hands someday..I dont see one.

I would agree with Jake, try pulling the trailer out a little farther. The more you crank the more weight goes on the trailer which means it's no longer floating and will center itself better. If you only have the front chain(I agree, you NEED one!) attached and the back end is floating around, then it's definitely backed in too deep. I've never needed guide ons for any of the boats that I've owned. When you back it in to launch, pay close attention to where your rear wheels are in regards to the water line. Pull a head a foot or two when retrieving as a start and you can adjust as you get better and better at doing it.

Overtons sells guide on's but i agree with the others try not putting the trailer in so deep.
when i had a roller trailer never had a problem , not i have a nextrail trailer and use the tall overton guide on's

I guess I did not know how much you could tug on the bow hook without causing problems, i will definately try to pull ahead a couple feet & see what happens. (if I can get some decent weather yet this year when the kids don't have something going on)

ShoreLander sells more than one type guide for some of their trailers. Maybe you can get some ideas form their site... http://www.shorelandr.com/pages/t_modelincat.aspx?type=boat

This isn't related to guides but seeing the location of rust on your trailer I'd advise you to take a look at this thread...http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25994&highlight=rust

Thanks for the link. As far as the rust, I'm not in saltwater and the tube in question can drain, Everything is solid other than the paint is off and it rusted. I am in michigan and a friggin delorian will rust around here, No biggie.

I have had single pole guides and our current trailer has dual with a board between guides on each side. I prefer the single pole and would put a PVC pipe over the metal to allow the boat to "roll" past/against the guides... Too hard to wash behind the double guide boards...

Newer trailer with double guides...
