What is your half ton truck pulling

Come on guys, get a grip. I tow this to the Fl keys all the time with my F150 Ecoboost (it is a Ford of course). It's all about number of axles and load distribution. At speed the traffic ahead makes a hole....

You can't go by dry weight of the boat You have to go by the gross vehicle weight of the truck and a trailer combined and see where you end up

I bought a 2006 340 4500km away i bought a trailer that was rated for the weight close to the boat. I have a new f450 ford that's insured for over 32,000 pounds i also hold a Commerical drivers licence.

Ok so we get to the boat it's dry docked. I looked at it It's physical size and 12 foot beam and had second thoughts.
Long story short we could not get to the boat by truck due to flooding.

I drove 4500km back with a new trailer and no boat

To say the least I was pissed!!!!
I paid shu of 20 k to get the boat trucked by proper boat carrier with transport truck. The boat was craned on to my trailer when it arrived at the marina.
Just backing the boat into the water the trailer was flexing really bad.

I probably would have not made it 100 km down the hwy with out killing my self or someone else.

So glad the marina was flooded.

Something to think about is the beam. Being a truck driver I'm sure you are familiar with this but depending on the state you are in or will be going through a 340 may require a pilot car where a 310 might just require a permit. Before you make a decision I would definitely look into that.

Whats the laws about that in USA ? In germany for anything more than 7500lbs you need a truck trailer coupling and pneuamtic brakes regardless of what car . Beam above 102 inch and you need a permit .

Whats the tow rating for a f150 5.7 ? This should clarify a lot of questions

I, for one, have been combing the specs trying to determine the max dimensions I MIGHT
need for an as of yet un-built garage/barn if I were to decide to upgrade from the 270 to
something still trailer-able.

That may well never happen, but in my world there wouldn't be any do-overs where
such an expenditure is concerned.

Yep, That trailer looks to be very light on the amount of steel for a boat that big. But out west, big boats are commonly seen on trailers. I've been towing mine since I bought it in '05. I've seen plenty much larger towed with no issues. Proper equipment and setup along with an experienced driver is all it takes.

A close friend of mine used to tow a 2005 340 with two 3 seat sea doos in front of it. The trailer was a four axle gooseneck.

Yes it is way to light for this boat but yet it's rated for the wheight .

As far as insurance and permits I was completely legal.for a 4500km trip

I will be selling this trailer in the spring on searay fourm. And other places It would be perfect for a fountain or smaller beam boat.

Would live to find a trailer like your buddy's for the future.
 
MetalCraft in Utah built the trailer for my boat. It is very stout and very heavy. They also built my buddy's gooseneck. Kokopelli in Phoenix custom builds a robust trailer out of aluminum. They will do tag or gooseneck. I had Owens and Sons out of Florida build an aluminum one for my 260 Dancer many years ago. When they are built correctly, aluminum is my favorite.
