what is your best boat gadget

Hey Bolt.... Just think.... You'll have more in that MANdatory 800 hour MAN service than I have in BOTH my Zodiac and Vespa combined!!! Good thing you're investing wisely!! Haha ;)

Maybe we'll put a propane assist on your Cummins buddy it's like nitrous to a diesel. We'll get Miss T chine walking .. Hahahahaha!!!! Can't wait to possibly meet up this summer , it's almost here.

tc410,

Your setup is beautiful.....I think I just felt a tear roll out of my eye....

Thanks Alex... Yes, I also carry a Zodiac 340 YachtLine dinghy back there (console style). No noticeable impact on performance. Everything seems the same with or without any toys back there...

That's impressive. Got to love the power of QSM11s.

I have to ask, how does the scooter holds up being exposed to the elements, especially salt water?
Obviously, to unload/load back on, you have to stay in marinas. I know that the davit has limited reach. What's your unloading/loading back on prosedure, considering the fact that most of the time either finger or the dock is not alligned with the boat's platform?

Sirius radio and $70 portable washing machine. Both good for times we are away from people for a couple of weeks.

First off the boat/scooter are exclusively used on Great Lakes - no salt! Second, I have a weather cover that keeps rain, dew, etc. off. Loading and unloading is a breeze. Just need a starboard side dock or finger pier and the dock height can't be too high or the davit can't reach high enough. Floating docks are best but I have had no problems on most fixed docks either - especially since our lake levels are up.

I love my autopilot and my 33mph dinghy.

Jeff - I may have missed it - did you make your Vespa mounts?

Chocks are from UMT Marine. I chose to mount them and the tie-down eyes in the aluminum rail that came from Sea Ray. Didn't want to drill more holes and this way I can remove everything easily if I want to.

Jeff, That's not a picture of your 500DB, Did you get a new boat with his & her matching Scooters ?

This one is hard to narrow down but I would say that my most used "gadget" is actually my cordless drill. The screwdriver bit broke the other day and I actually had to turn a real screwdriver for the first time in a few years. The Horror!!!!

Excluding that I too keep a small air compressor on the boat which makes life really easy when topping off the dinghy.

Vetus bow and stern thrusters = no stress docking even in tough condition

Direct TV & Vetus 75 Bow Thruster, I rarely use it but when I do, I REALLY need it.

Hey Gary stern thruster also? WOW nice! I've only had Joe do my bow and I LOVE that. I did price the stern but the added 6k I was like eh I'm good.

Ctsearay, if you have a bow thruster, make sure you use it. Like all items on a boat if they do not get used they tend to stop working when you need them.

Yeah I found that out the hard way LOL. The beginning of the season I needed it after not trying it for a month or so and it wasn't performing well. So now I light it up at least once a week while I'm out of the sight or ear shout of others, to keep the stone crushing to a minimum.

There are some nice gadgets on here.

Another one I would like to add: A thermometer for the reefer.

I just bought this one, and it has a digital read out that displays the high and low points for the past week in case your system goes down.

Wireless transponders, and you can mount the display near the Frig. = .025 Boat Dollars.

Hey Bill,

what model is that Acurite? I cant seem to find it.

WOW thanks, I have no idea how I couldn't find it. I went item by item lol Thanks!!! Mines on the way. Now I'll know if I'm replacing fridge's this season.
