"What is wrong" was already asked....

My Mom was so smart, she could handle any problem. When my little sister would complain about my brother and I, 'I don't like what they're saying', my Mom would say 'then don't listen'. When my sister would say 'I don't like what they're doing' my Mom would smack her on the butt and say 'then go in the other room and do something different'. Mom was awesome, don't be mumbling under your breath as you do as your told 'cause she had 'no time to listen to your lip'....'no desert for you tonight.';)
My mom is saying all this stuff right now... If you don't like what CNN is saying "Change the Channel".... If you don't like the President " Vote next time".... If you don't want to be deported "Don't be illegal"...she doesn't say much about guns but I do know she thinks society has dropped the ball on helping the mentally disturbed.
Moms are the best

In the major cities (mostly Toronto and Vancouver) there is an increase in organized gangs and the murders are gang on gang.

I would just like to point out not Vancouver. It's Surrey ...45 minutes South of Van.

Someone please remove this thread !!! This is not a boating issues and it just keeps showing up day after day. Enough already !!!!

This is the Tiki Bar section, if you are uncomfortable or offended by the topic, stop clicking on the thread to read it. Why do you feel the need to take away my rights to read someone's point of view on this topic because you have had "enough already"?

Borrowed from another forum:

Let’s review:

What DIDN’T stop today’s school shooting:
- Maryland’s assault weapon ban
- Maryland’s 10-round magazine limit
- Maryland’s universal background check requirement
- Maryland’s law requiring an exhaustive application process to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun
- Maryland’s law prohibiting purchase of more than one firearm per month
- Maryland’s law requiring handgun registration
- Maryland’s law requiring licensing of handgun owners
- Maryland’s extremely limited approval of concealed carry permits
- Maryland’s refusal to honor any concealed carry permit from another state
- Federal law prohibiting handgun possession for people under 21
- Laws against carrying without a permit
- Gun free zone laws
- Laws against discharging a firearm in public
- Laws against attempted murder

What DID stop today’s school shooting:
- An armed person at the scene who engaged the shooter in less than a minute

Any questions?"

WINNING!

Liberal gun grabbers do NOT and WILL NEVER understand this. They cannot be troubled with facts, as it does not fit their agenda.

Your post is pretty typical of a liberal response to many issues: "If I don't like it, it should be taken away". That's a response to gun control too.

My suggestion is this: If you don't like this thread don't open it and read it.

Similarly, if you don't like guns, don't buy one.

Why all the liberal bashing? Any liberal in here bashing you? I certainly haven’t.

I can only speak for myself, but I laid out plenty of facts as to how gun control has worked in other countries. And happy to acknowledge that yesterday’s incident was indeed prevented from being worse by a good guy with a gun. This time.

So you were saying?

Last I heard they don't even know if the school cop even hit the kid or if the kid shot himself. The shooter was upset about losing his squeeze. He shot her and a dude. I'm thinking the dude might have been her new guy.

I can't tell if the school cop was effective or not by the current facts. At this point it's possible the shooter shot the two people he came to shoot and then himself.

I read about one kid that felt the walkout protest wasn't the right thing to do during school time. He didn't leave the classroom....get this, he was suspended for not joining the protest.
My boys didn’t believe in the walkout protest and stayed in their classroom. Every kid that walked out got an in school suspension. I’m proud of my boys.

You spelled "every time" wrong.

Interesting that the other kids right to peaceful protest and free speech comes with a penalty.

Another thing, during the national anthem where we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country is neither the place nor the time.

There is a place and time to stand up for what you believe in. During the middle of the school day is neither the place nor the time.

What part of the constitution is that written in?
For those kids this is a life/death issue. Good on your kids for standing up for what they believe. But it is hugely hypocritical to say they don't have the right to protest as they did.

High school and university kids in the early 1970's had the balls to stand up for what they believed in and protest the Vietnam war. They did it against the will of their parents, their politicians, their President. They were beaten and arrested and the National guard shot and killed some. Thank the good lord that they did their part to put sanity into the government of the day and get your troops out of a war they should not have been in and could not win. Nothing different today. Just two differing views on what is right and wrong. Thank god they aren't patsies who just do what they are told.

They have every right to protest and demonstrate to their hearts' desire. They should also recognize that there are consequences to every action. That is, ironically, a very good lesson for them to be taught.

Now when they go out into the real world and call their boss an ass, they won't be surprised when their exercise of "free speech" gets them fired. Free speech doesn't, nor has it ever, meant you could say whatever you want, whenever you want without consequence.

Well let's look at this data (also taken from another site):
US: murder rate 4.2 per 100,000, guns per 100 people 88.8
UK: murder rate 1.2, guns per 100 people ~6
Switzerland: murder rate 0.7, guns per 100 people 45.7

So, the US has a murder rate about three times that of the U.K., and over ten times as many guns per person - which they often cite as proof that more guns mean more murders. But, how does that explain that the U.K. has a murder rate about twice that of Switzerland, while Switzerland has about seven times as many guns per person?

Do you know why Switzerland has so many guns? Its because of mandatory military service there. And anyone that completes their service is able to keep their guns. But every such person is fully trained military. And they have very strict gun controls and rules despite the large numbers of gun owners. It actually is a perfect example of the fact it is gun laws that make the difference.

What many people fail to realize.....

The shooter, even if he did shoot himself before the SRO did, may have only done so because of the confrontation with another gun. We do not know if he would have shot more people had the officer not been there. What investigators do know about shooters in gun free zones, in most cases they continue to kill until someone else shows up with a gun to stop them. At that moment, their either take their own life, are shot by a "good buy", or lay down their firearms and taken into custody. All three results required a "good guy". Without it, the killer would kill until there was not any more ammo to shoot, or no one left to shoot.

Wouldn't you rather find a way so that the original shooter was not able to start the shooting spree to begin with? Actually, I will answer my own question. No you don't.

Currently the majority of Americans value your absolutely unrestricted 2nd amendment rights to bear arms (which for the vast majority are just a toy/pastime) above the real risk that comes from having that same unrestricted right apply to everyone. And it means that you will continue to have more guns deaths than more restrictive countries, the odd mass shooting, and ironically, the perceived or real need for more "self defense" guns. Its a trade-off you are willing to make as a country. At least for now.

You have the right to free speech and peaceful protest. However, that does not guarantee no penalty for doing so.

Example, I have the right to tell my boss to "go F___ himself". That doesn't mean I will have a job tomorrow.
