Last year I bought a 1993 Sea Ray 180 with the v6 engine in it. It's been 12 years since it has seen the water. I've got the boat almost finished, but the trailer needs some help. It's a simple single axle bunk trailer with rectangular taillights and white plastic fenders, but it has no markings on it to give me any clue who the manufacturer is. One of the metal brackets that supports the bunk near the rear of the trailer has rotted and has let the bunk and boat drop down 1-2 inches, that corner of the boat has already broken the taillight and is only about an inch from the rail of the trailer. The winch is a profile 2000 if that gives any clue. Thanks

Somewhere on that trailer you're likely to find a VIN tag. It probably will be up near the tongue and should be solidly attached to the trailer frame. If you find that, copy down the VIN and google it or call you local state police and ask them to identify it for you.

Pictures will definitely help. But, going only off of what you have said so far... Your time might be better spent looking for a new trailer. Before you put ANY money into this, you need to check it out COMPLETELY - or have someone knowledgeable do it for you if you're not comfortable with it. This means the frame, the axle tube, the crossmembers, the supports, the bearings/axles... everything. The last thing you want is to have the trailer come apart on you while trailering, endangering your families life and that of other motorists.

As far as the manufacturer goes... honestly, it doesn't really matter. There's enough ways to fix it (IF it's fixable) with aftermarket parts and a little ingenuity that you really don't even need to know the manufacturer. However, I "think" that ShoreLand'r is the only manufacturer to use a Profile 200 winchstand. Whether they make it themselves, or not, I don't know. But I can't really remember ever seeing it on another manufacturer's trailer.

The tag that is being referenced, if readable - is typically located on the inside of the "A" frame or the tongue. But given it's 22 years old, it might just be a big, silver, BLANK sticker.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. I tried to post a couple pictures, but I'm not having good luck with it at the moment. I know what you mean about checking it over completely. The trailer overall has good bones, but I'm sure I'll find more surprises with the bunks once the boat is off of them.

Hi, and welcome the club. I just replaced the trailer that originally came with our '92 BR200. It was a white trailer, with a Profile 2000 winch. It was a Shorland'r. But I only knew that because I had the original title and owners manual. Is your trailer a Sea Ray branded trailer? Ours was, and matched the color scheme, right down to the pin stripes.

Anyway, ours also rusted in a couple of places, causing the trailer to flex, and become unstable, and in my opinion not worth the risk of repairing. Not sure o condition of yours, of course, but I would not recommend repairing it. I replaced ours with another Shorland'r (2012), bought from the local Sea Ray dealer. Based on a recommendation I read here, I reached out to the dealer. They sometimes sell new boat/trailer packages, and the new owners not need the trailer, so they sell the trailers for the owners. I found a great trailer practically unused, at a reasonable price.

Good luck!
John

Thanks all for the suggestions. I ran with the possibility that it was a Shoreland'r, and after some research, found all the hardware needed to replace the bunks. Once I get the boat off the trailer, I'll be sure to give it a good going over, and if it seems to still be in good shape other than the bunks, I'll rebuild them and get a bit more use out of it. If I find other issues, I'll consider replacing it.
