I need to know what is the correct fluid to use to top off the fluid levels in the reservoirs for the for the 2 following items:
1. Trim Tab pumps - to move them up and down
2. Outdrives - to move them up and down

Do I use Gear Lube fluid? Or are there separate types of fluids to be used for each item?

Thanks

automatic transmission fluid for both works fine.

Stay with quicksilver/merc brand fluids. To move tabs up and down and drives up and down require the same fluid in the hydraulic reservoirs. Do not use gear lube for this application! “Mercury power trim and steering fluid”

There is a seperate reservoir for the outdrive gear lube which should be “merc high performance gear lube”. Do not confuse these reservoirs.

Um, don't think those expensive B3 drives would fair so well with ATF in them.

Mercury/Quicksliver High performance gear oil only is my bet.

ATF fluid for the trim tabs and anything but Mercury or Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube for the OD is a sure disaster!!!!

Mercury or Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube only for the Bravo 3 OD.

Pretty sure he’s talking about the trim system for the out drive. Probably don’t want to put gear oil in that.

anything hydrolic related use ATF.
