What is Plath

    On the bow of my 85 Sda there is a thing labeled plath. What is this for? I've circled.the thing in the photo. 20180927_190417.jpg

    Plath is a brand... RC Plath. I'm assuming your windlass (or the switch) doesn't work, otherwise you probably would already know what that switch does... operates the windlass.

    When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was a hole, not a raised black bump (aka foot switch), could not figure out why the boat had a rod holder in that location!

    I believe Dennis is correct. I can't tell for sure from the pic, but it look's to be a free fall windlass. Hence the single switch, which is for anchor retrieval only.

    Thanks all. I've yet to try out the windless, so I'll check it out next week.
