I'm learning my new '04 260da...

I'm not totally sure how the vacuflush works. There's a three-position key that (i think) turn it on if in the center position, and operates the macerater and empties the waste into the sea if you twist it all the way to the right. That right-most position I think is labled "empty".

I don't have any intention to do that, so I'll leave my through hull fitting locked closed.

But what happens if someone engages the key all the way while the through hull fitting is closed? I'm sure it's not good, but how much of a problem would it be?

Nothing. There is a microswitch mounted on the sea cock that's interlocked with the macerator switch.

Wait. He'll have to verify that the switch is there. It all depends on who installed the macerator.

Is it a macerator or a T-pump?

Check your owner's pack - there are owner's manual's for every system on your boat.
